Which electric car has the lowest starting price?
In this comparison, the Tata Tiago.ev is the lowest-priced documented option, starting at ₹6.99 lakh. That is a starting price, not a claim that it is the cheapest EV across every model or offer in India. Autocar India reported these 2026 Tiago.ev variant prices:

MG’s prices and range details are on its Comet EV page. Citroën’s updated ë-C3X price, BaaS and boot information are in its 2026 announcement. Mahindra’s XUV 3XO EV prices, battery, range claim and charger option are in its 6 January 2026 release. Manufacturer range claims are not an independent, like-for-like comparison.
What does BaaS change about the price?
Battery-as-a-Service reduces the upfront price by separating the battery cost from the vehicle purchase, but adds an ongoing per-kilometre fee. Compare the entry amount and recurring charge together; do not treat a BaaS headline price as the cost of buying the car with its battery included.

The available figures do not establish which plan costs less over a particular ownership period. That comparison depends on distance driven, contract terms and other costs; review the current agreement and calculate the fee for your expected use.

These figures do not form a controlled comparison across models. Your routes, speed, climate, load and charging access affect whether a car fits daily use, so evaluate the range claim on its own terms and allow a practical buffer.
Which car fits your space and charging needs?
The cheapest sticker price does not guarantee the right car for a household. Compare passenger capacity, luggage, typical routes and how you will charge before choosing a variant.

Do not assume that a charger listed for one model is suitable for another. Ask the seller to confirm connector compatibility, installation and the final equipment cost for your home.

- Choose the exact variant. Compare battery size and equipment, particularly on the Tiago.ev, where the reported entry variant and larger-battery trim have different prices.
- Separate outright and BaaS pricing. For a BaaS offer, include the per-kilometre battery fee and read the current contract terms.
- Get an on-road quote for your location. Ask the dealer to itemize registration, insurance, taxes, fees and any applicable offer against the ex-showroom figure.
- Check charging details. Confirm whether a home charger is included or optional, its price, installation needs and compatibility. Mahindra lists its 7.2 kW wall charger at ₹50,000 as an option for the XUV 3XO EV.
- Match range to your routine. Distinguish certified from manufacturer-described real-world figures and consider your normal routes and available charging.
- Review ownership terms locally. Check service access, warranty and financing terms with the seller. The quoted prices and range details alone do not establish a comprehensive cost-of-ownership ranking.
