The motorcycle behind the “CFMoto’s answer for the Honda Transalp” headline is the CFMOTO 800MT-X, an off-road-focused middleweight adventure bike. But “imminent” is not a confirmed on-sale date: accessible evidence does not establish when it will launch, what it will cost, or which markets will get it.
Which CFMOTO is being called a Transalp rival?
It is the 800MT-X—not the separate 1000MT-X. Adventure Rigs Magazine describes the 800MT-X as an off-road-focused middleweight adventure motorcycle and positions it against the Honda Transalp, Suzuki V-Strom 800DE and Yamaha Ténéré 700. Is the 800MT-X actually imminent?
Not on the evidence available. The word “imminent” traces to the headline framing of a TopSpeed item described in search results as saying the model was production-ready. The article itself was inaccessible, and no accessible primary CFMOTO announcement confirmed a launch date, price, final specifications or market availability. “Production-ready” should therefore not be read as “on sale soon” or as proof of a delivery schedule. For a buyer, the practical answer is to treat the 800MT-X as a prospective rival rather than a motorcycle with a confirmed local arrival. CFMOTO dealer inventory or an official market-specific announcement would be needed to establish when it can actually be ordered or delivered.
What can be compared with the current Honda Transalp?
Honda’s US-market 2026 Transalp E-Clutch provides a current reference point: Honda lists a 755cc engine and a base MSRP of $10,199, plus a $600 destination charge. Honda also lists E-Clutch, five ride modes, and updated suspension and skid plate equipment. These are US model-year details, not a global price or equipment specification. A meaningful head-to-head still is not possible from the available 800MT-X information. There is no matched, complete set of verified figures here for engine output, chassis, suspension, wheels, electronics, seat height, price or delivery availability. Until those are confirmed, claims that one bike is lighter, cheaper, more capable or better equipped would be speculation.
