At CES 2024, Honda introduced the Honda 0 Series as a new global electric-vehicle program and showed two concepts: the low, sporty Honda 0 Saloon and the flexible-cabin Space-Hub. They expressed Honda’s “Thin, Light, and Wise” development approach, not finished vehicles with confirmed production specifications. Honda later canceled development and the planned North American market launch of the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV in March 2026; that announcement does not establish that every Honda 0 Series effort in every market was canceled.
What Honda unveiled at CES 2024
Honda presented the world premiere of the Honda 0 Series in Las Vegas on January 10, 2024. The reveal included two global EV concept models—the Saloon and Space-Hub—and a new H mark intended for Honda’s next-generation electric vehicles. Honda described the series as a reset of its EV development, with introductions planned to begin in 2026, initially in North America. That was the plan announced in 2024, not a current launch schedule.
Honda summarized its approach as “Thin, Light, and Wise.” The phrase framed five company-stated values:
- Artistic design intended to resonate with people.
- Advanced driver-assistance and automated driving technologies (AD/ADAS) intended to support safety and peace of mind.
- Connected technology intended to make the vehicle a “space” for people.
- Driving enjoyment and a sense of oneness between driver and vehicle.
- Electricity efficiency.
These were Honda’s development principles and aspirations, not independent findings about vehicle performance. Honda also set targets for planned Honda 0 Series models in the second half of the 2020s: charging from 15% to 80% in about 10–15 minutes and battery capacity degradation below 10% after 10 years of use. Those were targets, not verified production results. Honda said its battery-control work drew on driving data from more than 1 million Honda electrified vehicles; that figure describes Honda’s stated basis for the work, not an independent study. Honda also described sustainable materials for the Saloon. The cabin features, materials, and technologies were concept descriptions and development aims; they should not be read as confirmed production equipment or specifications. Honda’s concept descriptions appear in its CES 2024 release.
What happened after the CES 2024 concepts
- January 10, 2024: Honda revealed the Saloon and Space-Hub concepts, the new H mark, and the “Thin, Light, and Wise” approach at CES 2024. Its stated plan was for Honda 0 introductions to begin in 2026, initially in North America.
- January 8, 2025: Honda showed Saloon and SUV prototypes at CES 2025. At that time, it said the production SUV was scheduled to arrive first in North America in the first half of 2026 and the Saloon was also planned for North America in 2026. Those were plans announced in 2025. Honda’s CES 2025 announcement records them.
- March 12, 2026: Honda announced it had canceled development and the North American market launch of the Honda 0 SUV and Honda 0 Saloon planned for production there. Honda cited a reassessment of its automobile electrification strategy and the business environment. The announcement specifies those two models and the North American production and launch scope; it does not establish that every Honda 0 Series model or program worldwide was canceled. Is the Honda 0 Saloon still coming?
Not as the North American production model Honda had planned: Honda’s March 2026 announcement canceled development and the North American market launch of the Honda 0 Saloon, alongside the Honda 0 SUV. The 2024 Saloon was a concept, and the later North American plans were superseded by that cancellation. The announcement does not resolve the status of every Honda 0 Series vehicle or any plans for other markets.
