Which Caterpillar UTVs seat five?
Agriculture.com reported on November 19, 2018, that Caterpillar expanded the utility vehicle line it had introduced in 2017 with the CUV85 and CUV105D crew models. Both are configured for five people total: a driver and four passengers. Caterpillar’s 2018 brochure identifies the same two models as five-seat vehicles. How do the CUV85 and CUV105D differ?

The CUV85 is the higher-powered, faster option on the published figures. The CUV105D pairs a diesel engine with a lower rated speed. The 2018 report also said the CUV85 could be speed-limited to 25 mph. These are published specifications, not results from an independent comparison test. Cat’s current family listing labels the CUV85 and CUV105 D as gasoline and diesel, respectively.
What carrying and towing figures were published?
Agriculture.com reported a 1,000 lb cargo-bed capacity and 2,000 lb towing capacity for the crew models. Cat’s 2018 brochure lists those same bed and towing figures for the models shown, and gives a 1,500 lb payload capacity across the four CUV models in the brochure. These are manufacturer or trade-publication specifications, not an independent assessment of what a particular used vehicle can safely carry or tow. Actual practical limits also depend on terrain, trailer setup, and vehicle condition; the cited specifications do not evaluate those factors.

The 2018 report additionally described 10.5 inches of ground clearance, four-wheel independent suspension with a front sway bar, and selectable 2WD, 4WD, and 4WD lock modes. Consult the specific vehicle’s manual and labels when determining operating limits.
Are these Cat UTVs still current?
Cat’s UTV family page currently lists the CUV82, CUV85, CUV102 D, and CUV105 D, and marks each “NC” for non-current. The page identifies the CUV85 and CUV105 D as five-seat models. Catalog status does not establish whether a used example is available locally, or whether a particular dealer can support it. Ask a participating Cat dealer to verify used inventory, service, parts, and support for the vehicle’s model and region.

The prices published with the 2018 launch were $16,799 for the CUV85 and a starting price of $16,299 for the CUV105D, as reported by Agriculture.com. They are historical launch-era figures, not current buying guidance.

Cat’s 2018 brochure listed options including hard-shell doors, glass or poly windshields, a heater/defrost system, lighting, a front winch, a rearview mirror, and under-seat storage. The brochure described more than 25 accessory options for the UTV range at that time. Cat’s CUV82 product page also lists a rear-view mirror in its cab interior accessories section. Neither source establishes that every accessory fits every model or configuration; confirm exact fitment with a dealer before buying. The 2018 launch article described removable splash panels for access to the air filter, battery, and CVT, and front-hood access for cooling-system service. That period reporting should not be treated as a current repair procedure. Use the operator’s manual for the exact vehicle or ask a Cat dealer before servicing it; the 2018 article directed owners to Cat how-to videos for basic maintenance and dealers for work beyond home maintenance.
