Project V is a Caterham electric sports coupé, not a Yamaha-branded car. Yamaha joined as a development partner, supplying a trial e-axle for the prototype and vehicle-motion-control expertise. Caterham’s published figures are development targets, and the available official information does not establish Project V as a direct Porsche rival.
Is Project V a Yamaha car?
No. Caterham leads the project through Caterham EVo Limited. Yamaha Motor announced its collaboration on October 2, 2024, describing its role as work with Caterham on the prototype: it is contributing a trial e-axle and vehicle-motion-control expertise. The car’s lead brand is Caterham, not Yamaha. Yamaha’s announcement
Caterham says designer Anthony Jannarelly began working with the company on the electric sports-coupé design in September 2022. It partnered with Italdesign to build the show car the following month. The concept debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023 and appeared at Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2024. Yamaha later announced a target of completing the prototype around mid-2025; Caterham’s timeline now records the latest prototype’s unveiling at Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2026. These are distinct project milestones, not evidence that production or customer deliveries began in 2025. Caterham’s Project V page Yamaha’s announcement
What are Caterham’s Project V targets?
Caterham describes the following as target specifications based on a 47 kWh battery and says they may change as development progresses. They are not independently tested results or final, homologated production specifications.

Is Project V a Porsche rival?
The Porsche-challenge framing is not supported as a direct head-to-head claim by the official information cited here. Caterham presents Project V as an electric sports coupé intended to carry forward its lightweight, simple, driver-focused approach. Its chief designer, Anthony Jannarelly, says: “Every single feature has to justify itself from a weight perspective to maintain lightness and optimise driver engagement”. Caterham’s Project V page

The published material does not name a Porsche competitor or establish a like-for-like comparison of price, production status, tested acceleration, real-world range, handling, or intended use. Project V’s target figures alone cannot show that it beats a Porsche—or that the two cars will serve the same buyers. A meaningful comparison would need to name a Porsche model and compare confirmed, comparable specifications and availability.
