For this 2025 guide, the practical definition is final assembly in the United States. That does not mean every part was manufactured domestically, and it does not require the brand itself to be American.
Cars.com’s 2025 American-Made Index reviewed roughly 400 light-duty vehicles sold or planned for the U.S. market. It identified 99 qualifying nameplates after considering final assembly, U.S. and Canadian parts content, engine or motor origin, transmission origin, and the automaker’s U.S. manufacturing workforce.
The 10 most American-made vehicles for 2025
Cars.com ranked the following vehicles highest on its 100-point American-Made Index:
| Rank | Vehicle | Brand |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Model 3 | Tesla |
| 2 | Model Y | Tesla |
| 3 | Model S | Tesla |
| 4 | Model X | Tesla |
| 5 | Gladiator | Jeep |
| 6 | EV6 | Kia |
| 7 | Ridgeline | Honda |
| 8 | Odyssey | Honda |
| 9 | Passport | Honda |
| 10 | ID.4 | Volkswagen |
The ranking is not simply a list of vehicles with the highest U.S. parts percentage. Cars.com also gives credit for domestic assembly, the source of the engine or electric motor and transmission, and the automaker’s U.S. workforce. It also lowers a vehicle’s score when the same nameplate is assembled in another country.

Correction to the grouped table: Mazda’s CX-50 is ranked No. 77 and the CX-50 Hybrid is No. 79. The table intentionally lists them on separate rows even though they share the same U.S. assembly facility.
Notable U.S. assembly plants
Assembly location can vary by trim, powertrain, production date, or supply arrangement, but these facilities account for many of the vehicles on the list:

- Kia West Point, Georgia: Kia moved EV6 production to the United States. Cars.com reported 80% U.S./Canadian parts content for the EV6, the highest figure in its 2025 index.
- Honda Lincoln, Alabama: Honda assembles the Ridgeline, Odyssey, Passport, and Pilot there.
- Volkswagen Chattanooga, Tennessee: The ID.4 is assembled at Volkswagen’s Tennessee plant rather than being imported from Germany.
- Toyota: The Camry is built in Georgetown, Kentucky; the Tundra and Sequoia in Texas; the Grand Highlander and Highlander in Indiana; the Corolla Cross in Alabama; and the Sienna in Indiana. Exact production can differ by configuration.
- BMW Spartanburg, South Carolina: The X3, X5, X6, and X7, including the X5 50e plug-in hybrid, are assembled there.
- Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, Huntsville, Alabama: The CX-50 and CX-50 Hybrid are assembled at this joint-venture plant.
- Hyundai Georgia: The Ioniq 5 entered U.S. production for the 2025 model year.
U.S. and Canadian parts content: useful examples
The American Automobile Labeling Act, or AALA, requires the vehicle label to disclose U.S./Canadian parts content, the major source countries for foreign parts, final-assembly location, and the origins of the engine or motor and transmission. Selected MY2025 figures from NHTSA include:
| Vehicle or configuration | U.S./Canadian content |
|---|---|
| Kia EV6 | 80% |
| Honda Ridgeline TrailSport | 75% |
| Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD | 75% |
| Jeep Gladiator | 74% |
| Dodge Durango | 73% |
| Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L | 71% |
| Volkswagen ID.4, 82-kWh RWD | 71% |
| Honda Odyssey, Passport and Pilot | 70% each |
| Tesla Model Y versions | 70% |
| Toyota Grand Highlander and Highlander | 65% |
| Hyundai Ioniq 5 | 63% |
| Honda Accord | 60% |
| Ford F-150 | 45% |
| Chevrolet Corvette | 41% |
| Chevrolet Silverado 1500 | 37% |
These are not universal figures for every vehicle carrying the same badge. The NHTSA table separates configurations when content changes by engine, battery, drivetrain, trim, or assembly plant. For example, a CR-V, F-150, Ranger, Corolla Cross, Rogue, or Tesla can have different AALA entries.
How to check whether a specific car was built in the U.S.
- Read the AALA label. It is normally on the window or a nearby vehicle placard. Look for final-assembly country and location first.
- Check U.S./Canadian parts content. This percentage is based on value, not the number of parts. A high percentage does not mean the vehicle is entirely domestic.
- Read the component-origin lines. The label identifies major foreign-parts sources and gives the engine or electric-motor and transmission origins.
- Match the exact configuration. Confirm the trim, engine, battery, drivetrain, and model year. Do not assume that every version of a model uses the same plant.
- Use the VIN and build records if necessary. This is especially helpful when a model is built at more than one plant or when a dealer has vehicles from different production batches.
What the list does not mean
An American brand is not automatically a U.S.-built vehicle
Brand nationality and assembly location are separate. The 2025 list includes Kia, Honda, Volkswagen, Toyota, BMW, Hyundai, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, and other non-U.S. brands because they assemble particular vehicles in American plants. Conversely, an American-branded vehicle may be imported.

U.S. assembly does not mean 100% U.S. content
A vehicle can be welded, painted, and assembled in the United States while using engines, transmissions, batteries, electronics, or other parts sourced elsewhere. The AALA percentage is a better starting point than the badge, but it still measures U.S. and Canadian content by value rather than total domestic manufacturing.
The American-Made Index is not a complete production census
Cars.com’s index is a filtered ranking, not a legal register of every vehicle assembled in the country. It can exclude vehicles outside its scope, including certain heavy vehicles, fleet-only models, discontinued or low-volume products, vehicles not yet on sale during the study, and models without enough verifiable data.

Which car is the most American-made for 2025?
Cars.com ranked the Tesla Model 3 first in its 2025 American-Made Index, followed by the Tesla Model Y, Model S, and Model X. The ranking combines assembly location, U.S./Canadian parts content, component origins, and the automaker’s U.S. workforce.
Rank #4
- Hot Wheels 2020 Factory Fresh Tesla Model 3, Gray 112/250
Are all cars on the 2025 list made entirely in the United States?
No. The list identifies vehicles with qualifying U.S. final assembly, but many still use foreign-made parts or components. Check the vehicle’s AALA label for its exact U.S./Canadian content and component origins.
Which non-American brands build vehicles in the United States?
The 2025 list includes U.S.-assembled vehicles from Kia, Honda, Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai, Mazda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, Genesis, and others. Brand nationality does not determine where a particular vehicle is assembled.
How can I verify where a 2025 vehicle was built?
Inspect the AALA label on the vehicle window or nearby placard. It lists the final-assembly location, U.S./Canadian parts percentage, major foreign-parts sources, and engine or motor and transmission origins. Confirm the exact trim and powertrain because production details can vary.

The Bottom Line
In 2025, U.S. assembly is not limited to traditional American brands. The qualifying list includes everything from the Tesla Model 3 and Jeep Gladiator to the Kia EV6, Honda Ridgeline, Volkswagen ID.4, BMW X5, Toyota Camry, and Mazda CX-50.
If domestic production matters to your purchase, do not stop at the model name or badge. Check the specific vehicle’s AALA label: final assembly, U.S./Canadian parts content, and component origins can change between trims and powertrains.
