Three passengers died and two others were seriously injured when a Holden Colorado ute left Orrong Road and struck a home near Roberts Road in the early hours of 19 October 2024. The crash occurred in Rivervale, on the boundary with Carlisle. The driver was charged with five offences and pleaded not guilty in August 2025; the available court record does not confirm what happened in the case after November 2025.
What happened in the Carlisle crash?
Police said the Holden Colorado was travelling south on Orrong Road at about 5:10am on Saturday, 19 October 2024, when it left the road, struck a tree, went through a fence and hit the rear wall of a home near Roberts Road. The house was unoccupied, ABC News reported.
Three male passengers, aged 34, 22 and 22, died at the scene. Two other passengers, aged 19 and 23, were seriously injured and taken to Royal Perth Hospital. There were six people in a vehicle designed to carry five.
Where did the crash happen?
The collision was on Orrong Road near Roberts Road, at the Rivervale–Carlisle boundary. PerthNow’s initial report described the location as Carlisle. ABC News later corrected its location wording to Rivervale and explained that Orrong Road marks the boundary. The accounts therefore refer to the same crash, but Rivervale is the corrected suburb identification.

Who was charged, and what was alleged?
The driver, who was 22 at the time, was charged with three counts of manslaughter and two counts of aggravated dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm. He pleaded not guilty to all five counts in August 2025, ABC News reported. A charge is an allegation, not a finding of guilt.

- The ute was allegedly travelling at 114 kilometres per hour in a 70 kilometre per hour zone.
- Police alleged the driver was the only person in the vehicle wearing a seat belt.
- ABC’s October 2024 court report said a preliminary breath test produced a reading of 0.095.
In early reporting, WA Police Road Policing Commander Mike Bell said speed was clearly a factor in the investigation and police suspected some passengers were not wearing seat belts. He told ABC: “So our message again is for everyone to slow down and drive to the conditions.”

The latest status established by the available official record is limited. The Supreme Court of Western Australia’s Criminal Case Inventory says its data was correct as at 22 November 2025 and lists later court events, but it does not establish whether a trial scheduled for 2026 proceeded or give the case’s status on 8 October 2026. ABC reported the not-guilty plea on 20 August 2025. Without a newer reliable report or court record, it would be inaccurate to say that a trial occurred or that the case has reached a verdict.
