Its advertised six-person sleeping capacity depended on an optional pop-up roof; without it, the two convertible lounge beds reportedly slept four. Its land mode was a trailer, not a self-driving RV, and current production, availability, specifications and pricing have not been verified.
What is the Caracat?
Caracat combines a camper-style cabin with a catamaran hull arrangement. On land, it travels on a boat trailer behind a tow vehicle. Once launched, electrically extending pontoons widen the vessel for use afloat. The electric propulsion described in the 2022 report is for the water, not for driving the unit on roads.
That distinction matters: “electric catamaran RV” can sound like a road-going amphibious vehicle, but the reporting describes a towable caravan-and-boat combination. Trailer, tow vehicle, launch ramp access and local boating rules are part of the practical equation.
How the six-person sleeping arrangement works
New Atlas reported two lounge areas, one forward and one aft, each converting into a double bed. Together they provide sleeping space for four. The optional pop-up sleeper roof adds the reported capacity for two more, bringing the stated total to six. Six berths therefore depended on choosing that roof option; it was not described as standard equipment.

Reported layout and onboard amenities
The bathroom sits between the lounge areas and was reported to include a toilet, sink and shower. The galley equipment listed in the same report comprised a diesel-electric cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, sink and wine cooler.
Reported exterior features included a bow balcony and aft deck, plus an available roof sundeck with a deployable canopy. These are features described by New Atlas in 2022, not details independently verified on a current production unit.

Dimensions, propulsion and power equipment in the 2022 report
New Atlas gave three lengths and described electrically adjustable pontoons that change the Caracat’s footprint between road and water configurations.

The report said the base motor could be operated with a Class B driver’s license. That is a statement from the 2022 report, not a general rule for other countries, current licensing requirements or every Caracat configuration.

For the 8.6-m model, New Atlas listed a Victron 220-Ah AGM leisure battery, a 200-W solar panel, a 32-A shore-power connection, Garmin 722 XS GPS/chart plotter, Truma air/water heater and Dometic air conditioner. Those are historical reported equipment details for that model. The leisure battery and solar panel should not be mistaken for a verified specification of the propulsion battery system.
What the report does—and does not—establish
The Caracat information available here comes from New Atlas’s August 31, 2022 article, which reported details attributed to the company and its appearance at the 2022 Düsseldorf Caravan Salon. It also said Caracat was headquartered in Germany and manufactured in Turkey at that time. Those statements do not confirm the company’s present status or the current build.

- Historical reported starting price: €130,000 for the 6.6-m model, as reported in 2022. New Atlas rendered that as approximately US$129,900 at the time; neither figure establishes a current asking price.
- Not established by that reporting: current production or availability, current price, verified tow weight, road-legal registration details, water range, charging time or present-day safety certification.
Anyone assessing a towable boat-camper needs current figures for towing limits and trailer compatibility, storage footprint, road-width requirements and launch access, as well as the vessel’s local registration and operating requirements. The historical article does not supply those details for a present-day purchase decision.

These products overlap in combining towing on land with use afloat, but the published information does not establish that they share Caracat’s optional pop-up roof or six-sleeper layout.

Cat Cruisers’ March 13, 2026 announcement said its Australian-designed and built electric catamaran range was then in build, with 650 and 750 models planned first and an 870 to follow. The announcement did not publish prices at that stage and directed prospective buyers to request a quote. The current manufacturer site lists a starting price for the 750, so its price information differs by source and date; confirm any current quote directly.
