A 78-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a car near Nicholson Road and Ranford Road in Canning Vale on the evening of 7 May 2025, according to a PerthNow report published the following day. The report said the driver was assisting police with their inquiries; it did not report a charge or establish who was at fault.
What happened in the Canning Vale crash?
PerthNow reported that the collision occurred at about 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, 7 May 2025, near the intersection of Nicholson Road and Ranford Road in Canning Vale. The vehicle was described as a grey Honda CR-V station wagon travelling south on Nicholson Road.
The pedestrian, aged 78, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital, where they later died, the report said.
What did the report say about the driver?
The driver, a 39-year-old man, was not injured and was assisting police with their inquiries, according to the PerthNow report. That wording does not establish that he was formally questioned, charged, or found responsible for the collision.

PerthNow reported that Major Crash investigators appealed for witnesses and anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. The report listed the contact options as calling 1800 333 000 or using the Crime Stoppers website.
