Why a catalog listing does not guarantee a quick repair
NISMO identifies several ordering situations. Some items are regular-stock products; others are produced in lots, often after enough orders accumulate; and some are accepted only during a limited ordering period. The practical difference is important: a listed part may not be sitting on a shelf ready to ship.

Know what kind of part you are buying
“Genuine” and “NISMO” do not always mean the same manufacturing history. NISMO distinguishes a genuine reproduction—remade with the original supplier—from a NISMO replacement part, which is newly manufactured from Nissan drawings and may use different materials or production methods. The program also describes repair or substitute approaches for components that are difficult to reproduce exactly. Ask which category applies to the part in question and whether the item is a reproduction, a new replacement, a repair solution, or a substitute. Do not assume from a product name alone that a replacement is built exactly like the original factory component.
There is no single best category for every repair. If matching original production is your priority, ask whether the item is a genuine reproduction made with the original supplier. If the goal is to replace a discontinued component using a newly made part, establish whether it is a NISMO replacement based on Nissan drawings and ask about any different materials or methods. If exact reproduction is difficult, clarify what a repair or substitute entails and whether it addresses the same need for your vehicle. Use the chassis code and the part number, not just “Skyline GT-R” or a broad model-year description. NISMO’s catalog identifies applicability by code: BNR32, BCNR33 and BNR34. It does not follow that a part listed for one of these cars fits every other GT-R generation, every Skyline, or every vehicle with a modified engine or chassis.
- Identify the car. Confirm the chassis code from the vehicle’s documentation and, where appropriate, the identification plate. For this program, check whether it is BNR32, BCNR33 or BNR34.
- Find the exact item. Use NISMO’s Skyline GT-R parts catalog to check the listed model applicability and record the NISMO part number.
- Confirm the order status. Ask the seller whether the part is stocked, lot-produced or limited-period, and whether orders are currently being accepted.
- Verify the repair details. Confirm that the part number and fitment suit the car’s actual configuration. This is especially important if the car has been modified or the repair involves related components.

Give the seller enough information to check the match rather than relying on a broad description. The catalog’s model-code applicability is a useful starting point, but the exact part number and the car’s actual configuration remain central. If the car has been modified, tell the seller what is relevant to the repair and have fitment confirmed before placing an order.
The catalog also lists Engine Oil 10W60 RB26DETT for BNR32, BCNR33 and BNR34. That is evidence of a catalog listing for those codes, not proof that it is appropriate for every engine’s condition, specification or modification. Check the requirements for the individual car and engine rather than treating a catalog listing as a universal maintenance recommendation.

Where to look for parts and restoration help
Official parts channels in Japan
The NISMO Heritage page lists Japanese Nissan dealerships, NISMO Performance Centers and NISMO Omori Factory as purchasing channels. Nissan’s 2017 announcement also described the program as launching in Japan. The sources establish these Japanese channels; they do not establish that every country has the same official ordering route, inventory, or delivery terms. Owners outside Japan should ask a local Nissan dealer or parts specialist whether the exact part can be sourced for their market, using the NISMO part number rather than assuming domestic Japanese availability applies abroad.
When contacting a channel outside Japan, ask whether it can order the item for your destination, not only whether the part appears in a Japanese catalog. NISMO’s announced restoration service
On December 4, 2020, NISMO announced a “NISMO restored car” service covering the R32, R33 and R34. The announcement described restoration of customer cars and complete-car sales through its directly managed store. It is evidence that NISMO launched a manufacturer-affiliated restoration route for those generations, but it does not establish that bookings are open now, what a current restoration includes, how long it takes, or what it costs. The distinction between a service announcement and a current booking matters if you are considering a full restoration rather than a single repair. Ask whether NISMO is accepting cars, what intake and inspection steps apply, what work is included, and how the estimate and schedule are established. The announcement gives no current price or appointment information, so neither should be assumed from the fact that the service was launched.
Independent specialists outside the official route
If the Japanese official route is impractical, an independent Skyline GT-R specialist may be the local option. The available official information does not verify any particular independent shop or its capabilities. Ask a prospective shop which R32, R33 or R34 work it has completed, whether it can identify and source the needed part by number, and how it handles a repair when the exact part is unavailable. Distinguish demonstrated model-specific experience from a general claim to work on performance cars.

For an independent shop, ask how it will confirm fitment and whether it can explain the difference between the needed item and any proposed substitute or repair. If the required part is delayed or unavailable, ask what alternatives it would consider and what trade-offs they involve. These questions help you compare a local repair route with a Japan-based official channel without assuming that an independent specialist is Nissan-authorized or that every shop has equal experience.
