GM EVs can use compatible Tesla Superchargers, but whether you need an adapter depends on the vehicle’s charge port. A GM EV with a CCS1 inlet needs GM’s approved NACS DC adapter; a GM EV with a native NACS port plugs in without one. Not every Tesla station is open to every vehicle, so check the exact location and your vehicle’s compatibility in the Tesla or GM app before setting out.
Does your GM EV need an adapter?
Check the vehicle’s actual inlet rather than relying on the badge or model name alone. A CCS1-equipped GM EV needs a compatible NACS DC adapter to connect to an eligible NACS Supercharger. A GM EV with a native NACS inlet does not need an adapter for NACS charging.
GM’s guidance also says a NACS-native vehicle needs a NACS-to-CCS adapter to use a CCS charging station. That is a different adapter and use case from connecting a CCS1 GM vehicle to a NACS Supercharger.
Which GM models have native NACS ports?
GM’s model guide, dated August 13, 2026, says the 2026 Cadillac Optiq is native NACS and that GM expects all 2027 model-year Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC EVs to have native NACS ports. The 2027 statement is an expectation, not confirmation that every vehicle has already been delivered with that configuration. Check the individual vehicle’s inlet and current owner guidance.

Which Tesla Superchargers can a GM EV use?
Station eligibility is separate from adapter fit. Tesla distinguishes among Tesla-only Superchargers, sites equipped with a Magic Dock that can serve all EVs, and NACS Superchargers opened to vehicles by their manufacturer. Tesla lists GM among the automakers with access to NACS Superchargers, but not every Tesla location is available to GM vehicles.
Use the Tesla app or its interactive map, or the GM vehicle app, to check the specific station against your vehicle. GM Energy’s FAQ reports that GM customers can access over 27,500 Superchargers in the United States and Canada; it says Generation 3 and later are open to GM drivers, while noting that some sites remain Tesla-only. This is GM’s reported network figure, not a guarantee that every listed station works with every GM model.
