The installation sounds straightforward, but “any bike” is not established: wheel, axle and brake compatibility need checking before purchase.
How the Unlimited conversion kit works
New Atlas reported on July 13, 2020, that the basic kit included a hub-motor front wheel offered in a range of sizes, a battery pack, a quick-release battery plate and a wireless pedal sensor. The plate attaches to the bicycle’s bottle-cage mounting holes; the sensor straps to the crank arm. The motor assists through the front wheel when the system detects pedaling.
Reported installation steps
- Remove the bicycle’s existing front wheel and install the supplied motor wheel.
- If the bicycle has a disc brake, transfer its rotor to the replacement wheel.
- Attach the battery mounting plate to the bottle-cage holes, then position and connect the battery.
- Route the wire along the front fork.
- Secure the wireless pedal sensor to the crank arm.
These steps reflect New Atlas’s 2020 description, not an independent hands-on installation test. The article says the sensor uses accelerometers and other sensors to detect pedaling and direction.
Will it fit your bicycle?
Not necessarily. New Atlas said the front wheel was offered in a range of sizes and called the setup broadly compatible, but did not publish a complete compatibility chart. Its report does not establish compatible axle standards, brake clearances, every wheel size or frame constraints. A disc-brake bicycle also needs a compatible rotor transfer to the replacement wheel.

Before buying any particular kit, verify its current fit information against your bicycle’s wheel diameter, axle type, brake system and available bottle-cage mounts. The article also described a rear-motor version, but said it was harder to fit and did not work with every wheel type.
What performance and controls did the 2020 report describe?
New Atlas reported two configurations: 250 W with a stated top speed of 25 km/h, described in the article as “Euro-legal,” and 750 W with a stated top speed of 22 mph, described as “US-legal.” Those are the report’s 2020 descriptions, not current legal guidance; applicable e-bike rules depend on location and configuration.
