Can-Am’s current U.S. lineup lists two electric motorcycles for 2026: the city-focused Pulse, starting at $10,999, and the dual-sport Origin, starting at $11,499. BRP’s published figures show why the distinction matters: the Pulse is set up for urban riding, while the Origin adds off-road modes and greater ground clearance. Range estimates vary by riding or test condition, and the detailed Origin specifications available here are for model year 2025—not 2026.
Can-Am’s electric motorcycle return: Pulse and Origin
BRP introduced the Pulse and Origin as all-electric motorcycles, describing the launch as Can-Am’s return to the motorcycle market. The company has not established a precise prior exit year in the cited announcement, so a specific length of absence cannot be pinned down from that account. BRP’s announcement also frames electrification as part of a broader effort across existing product lines; that is the company’s stated direction, not a measure of what it has already delivered.
The current Can-Am U.S. lineup identifies both models as 2026 motorcycles. Its displayed starting prices are U.S.-market figures, not complete dealer quotes; taxes, fees, options, incentives, and availability can affect what a buyer pays. Can-Am’s U.S. lineup is the place to check current listings and dealer access.
Pulse vs. Origin: what changes between the models?
The Pulse is the naked, urban-oriented motorcycle. Origin is the dual-sport, intended for paved and unpaved riding. The table pairs the current 2026 Pulse information with the detailed 2025 North American Origin sheet reviewed here; Origin’s figures below must not be read as confirmed 2026 specifications.

Specifications are manufacturer figures from BRP’s 2026 Pulse specifications and 2025 North American Origin specifications. The model-year mismatch matters: the currently displayed U.S. lineup calls Origin a 2026 model, but the detailed Origin sheet cited for power, range, dimensions, and other specifications is for 2025.
How far can a Can-Am electric motorcycle go?
BRP publishes three different range estimates, and they answer different questions. For the 2026 Pulse, the estimates are 100 miles in city conditions, 80 miles on the combined WMTC cycle, and 55 miles at a sustained 50 mph. For the 2025 Origin, BRP lists 90 miles city, 71 miles combined WMTC, and 52 miles at a sustained 50 mph. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent range-test results or a guarantee of distance in everyday use.

- City: Use the city estimate as the manufacturer’s urban-condition figure, not as a promise for every stop-and-go commute.
- Combined WMTC: This is a separate test-cycle estimate. It should not be treated as equivalent to the city figure.
- Sustained 50 mph: This estimate gives a speed-specific comparison, rather than a general highway-range guarantee.
Actual distance depends on riding conditions and use. When comparing the two, compare like with like—city against city, combined WMTC against combined WMTC, or sustained 50 mph against sustained 50 mph—and keep the Origin’s 2025 model-year label attached to its numbers.
Charging: connector, compatibility, and published times
The reviewed BRP specification sheets list a 6.6 kW onboard charger, a Type 1 J1772 connector, and Level 1 and Level 2 charging compatibility for both motorcycles. For the 2026 Pulse, BRP lists a 20–80% charge in 50 minutes using Level 2 at 240 V, or 3 hours 10 minutes using Level 1 at 120 V. Its listed full-charge times are 1 hour 30 minutes at Level 2 and 5 hours 15 minutes at Level 1. The 2025 Origin sheet lists the same charger, connector, compatibility, and charging times.

Those are manufacturer-published times; actual charging depends on conditions and equipment. Before buying a charger or planning a home installation, confirm what equipment is included and what supply the motorcycle requires with BRP or a dealer. The J1772 connector information is a basis for checking compatible charging equipment, not proof that a particular charger is included or that a home circuit is suitable.

Origin’s Normal, ECO, Rain, and Sport modes are joined by Off-Road and Off-Road+. Those additional modes mark its intended use beyond pavement. Can-Am’s riding-mode guide says Off-Road mode is not recommended for asphalt; riders should follow the manufacturer’s instructions and select the mode for the surface. Can-Am’s riding-modes guide explains the distinction.

- SPYDER RT READY: 12V 22AH sealed lead acid battery fits Can-Am Spyder RT lineup (2010 - 2018) - delivers 230 CCA to fire your Rotax engine on the first turn, every time you swing a leg over.
- FACTORY SEALED: Activated at the factory and sealed shut - no acid kits to track down, no guessing how many ounces you need, no second trip for supplies. Unbox it and install it. Done.
- COLD WEATHER CONFIDENCE: 230 CCA means your Spyder RT fires up on chilly spring mornings when other batteries leave you stranded in the garage. Enough cranking muscle for the Rotax engine even after months in storage.
- ZERO MAINTENANCE: Sealed lead acid construction keeps acid where it belongs - inside the battery, not leaking onto your terminals. No fluid checks, no topping off, no corrosion creeping across your connections.
- DROP-IN FITMENT: Exact Y50-N18L-A3 dimensions slide into the Spyder RT battery tray with no shimming, no trimming, no creative mounting. Hook up the terminals and your next ride is one key-turn away.
Its greater ground clearance—10.8 inches on the 2025 Origin sheet versus 5.7 inches for the 2026 Pulse—and taller seat (34 inches versus 30.86 inches) are relevant to fit and terrain, but they also mean the two bikes may feel quite different to a rider. The listed curb weights are 412 lb for the 2025 Origin and 390 lb for the 2026 Pulse.
Price, warranty, and what to confirm before buying
BRP’s current U.S. lineup lists starting prices of $10,999 for the 2026 Pulse and $11,499 for the 2026 Origin. These are market-specific starting prices; they are not a full out-the-door quote, and prices or stock can change. Ask a local dealer for the exact model-year configuration, final price, delivery timing, and any applicable local incentives.
The reviewed 2026 Pulse and 2025 Origin specification sheets list a two-year vehicle warranty and a five-year battery warranty with a mileage cap. Warranty coverage can depend on region and model year, so obtain the written terms applicable to the motorcycle being sold. Also verify local licensing requirements and any market-specific power variant before purchase.
Can-Am’s U.S. site provides routes to parts and accessories and to a dealer. For charging and ownership questions, confirm compatibility, included equipment, warranty, and service support directly for the specific market and model year.
