That does not mean the current XT5 will hand off to its successor without a break: a June 2026 trade report says current-model production is scheduled to end in late 2026, with the next XT5 expected for the 2028 model year. GM has confirmed the production plan, but not those specific dates.
What GM has officially confirmed
GM’s 2025 U.S. manufacturing announcement named the Cadillac XT5 among the vehicles planned for production at Spring Hill, Tennessee. On June 24, 2026, GM reiterated that plan and specifically referred to next-generation XT5 production, alongside the LYRIQ, LYRIQ-V, VISTIQ and a Chevrolet Blazer planned for 2027. GM’s 2025 manufacturing announcement and June 2026 Spring Hill update establish a continued production future for the XT5 at the plant.
That is a production-plan confirmation, not a complete launch announcement. GM’s cited releases do not specify when the successor will reach dealerships, its final model-year designation, or its features, trims and pricing.
Is the Cadillac XT5 being discontinued?
GM’s announcement points to a successor rather than the XT5 nameplate ending altogether. Cadillac’s U.S. site currently lists the 2026 XT5. The continued production plan applies to the next generation, however, and does not establish that a 2027 model will be sold in North America.

What is reported about the production gap?
GM Authority reported on June 28, 2026, citing sources familiar with the schedule, that production of the current North American 2026 XT5 was scheduled to end in late 2026. The report expects about nine months without XT5 production, with the successor scheduled to begin production in the third quarter of 2027 for the 2028 model year. Those dates are trade reporting, not dates announced in GM’s cited releases, and could change. Read GM Authority’s June 2026 timing report.
Earlier reporting should not be mistaken for the latest reported schedule. On August 4, 2025, GM Authority described a next-generation 2027 XT5 for North America, relaying a Detroit Free Press report that cited a memo shared with UAW Local 1853. Its later June 2026 report instead says there is no 2027 model-year XT5 for North America and expects a 2028 model-year successor. The August 2025 report is earlier; the later schedule remains attributed reporting, not an official GM timetable.

What is known about the current XT5—and what is not
Cadillac’s U.S. page lists the 2026 XT5 with a starting price of $44,800 as of October 8, 2026. The page lists a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder for the Luxury trim and an available 3.6L V6. Pricing, offers and inventory can change; check Cadillac’s live XT5 page for current information.
GM has not published successor specifications in the cited announcements. There is not enough official information to compare the next XT5’s engine, equipment, trims or price with the 2026 model.

What XT5 sales figures do—and do not—show
GM’s U.S. delivery table records 5,764 XT5 deliveries in the second quarter of 2026 and 11,107 year to date through June. The comparable 2025 figures were 6,374 and 12,727. These are deliveries, not factory production totals, and the figures do not establish why GM plans to continue the XT5. GM’s Q2 2026 U.S. delivery table provides the underlying numbers.
