A February 2026 report from CorvetteBlogger identified two C8 Corvettes in a bystander video as possible 2027 Grand Sports. The styling clues included rear-fender hash marks, black wheels and a quad-center exhaust. Chevrolet later confirmed the model: it previewed the 2027 Grand Sport at Sebring on March 21 and officially revealed the Grand Sport and Grand Sport X on March 26, 2026.
What the bystander video reportedly showed
In a February 1, 2026 post, CorvetteBlogger’s Keith Cornett credited the video and photos to Instagram account njp_moto. The report described a white C8 and a very dark blue C8 parked beside a canyon road. It pointed to red Grand Sport-style hash marks on the rear fenders, black wheels, a quad-center exhaust and a red badge behind the door as clues that the cars might be Grand Sports.
Cornett also suggested the cars could have been filming a reveal video. That was an interpretation, not a confirmed purpose. The post noted that the images were dark and that some trim details were uncertain. The footage’s exact capture date and location, the cars’ identities at the time, and whether a reveal was being filmed are not independently established by the available reporting.
When Chevrolet confirmed the Grand Sport
General Motors announced on March 21, 2026, that the 2027 Grand Sport would be revealed on March 26. In its March 26 announcement, GM confirmed both the rear-wheel-drive Grand Sport and a separate all-wheel-drive model, the Grand Sport X. The early video report was right about the cars belonging to the Grand Sport family, but the later reveal does not verify every detail inferred from the footage.

What the 2027 Grand Sport is—and how the X differs
The standard 2027 Grand Sport is rear-wheel drive, with a naturally aspirated 6.7-liter LS6 V8 rated by GM at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. It uses an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. GM says a quad center-exit exhaust is available.
The Grand Sport X is a distinct hybrid, all-wheel-drive variant. GM rates its combined output at 721 horsepower, from the same 535-hp V8 and a 186-hp electric drive unit. The 721-hp rating belongs to the X, not the rear-wheel-drive Grand Sport.

These ratings and configuration details are from GM’s March 26, 2026 announcement. Chevrolet’s US product page lists a starting price of $86,000; that manufacturer listing was accessed October 8, 2026, and may change. The same page lists an available 0–60 mph time of 2.75 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 10.95 seconds at 124 mph. Those are Chevrolet-published available figures, not a guarantee for every configuration.
GM estimates fuel economy at 15 mpg city, 23 mpg highway and 17 mpg combined. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results.

Chassis options and tire cautions
GM says the Grand Sport comes standard with Magnetic Ride Control and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. Optional packages add more track-focused equipment:
- Z52 Sport: GM lists summer tires and upgraded brakes.
- Z52 Track: GM lists carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, carbon-fiber aerodynamic components and a quad center exhaust.
- Carbon Fiber Aero: Chevrolet’s model page lists this as an available package; the March 26 GM release describes carbon-fiber aero components with the Track package.
GM warns that summer-only tires should not be used in winter conditions and advises choosing GM-approved wheel-and-tire combinations. Check the current Chevrolet specifications for the exact equipment included with a particular configuration.

Why the rear-fender hash marks matter
GM traces the Grand Sport name to five C2 race cars built in the early 1960s. Later road-going Grand Sports carried the name forward with performance drawn from faster Corvette variants and distinctive colors and striping.
On the 2027 C8, the signature hash marks move to the rear of the car. GM says earlier C4, C6 and C7 Grand Sports placed them on the front fenders; moving them rearward reflects the C8’s mid-engine layout. The returning Admiral Blue Metallic also recalls C4-era styling.

The February footage report, then, caught styling that pointed toward a model Chevrolet would confirm weeks later. Its central identification proved accurate at the model-family level, while the specific setting and filming circumstances remain unverified.
