BYD’s event materials call it the “DENZA Z Concept Sports Car,” rather than announcing a finalized retail model. The company’s English-language event announcement, dated 25 April 2025, and its Spanish-language event coverage both describe it as a concept.

Why is it being compared with the Porsche 911?
CarNewsChina’s report on 23 April 2025 framed the Denza Z as a potential competitor to the Porsche 911. That is a media comparison, not positioning stated in the BYD event descriptions cited here. The report characterized the concept as a four-seat coupe and said hardtop and convertible versions were contemplated.
The comparison is not yet a like-for-like performance or value matchup. At the reveal, the report said full specifications and pricing had not been released. The available material therefore does not establish final powertrain output, performance figures, retail price, production status, or market availability for a numerical comparison with the 911. Those reveal-time gaps should not be read as a claim about the car’s status after April 2025.

What technology and design did BYD highlight?
Drive-by-wire controls
BYD said the concept uses its self-developed steer-by-wire system as part of a broader drive-by-wire setup. The company described electronic control extending across the powertrain, braking, and suspension, and also highlighted a folding steering wheel.
DiSus-M body control
BYD described DiSus-M as a magnetorheological body-control system: magnetic fields alter the fluid’s viscosity to adjust damping. The company stated that adjustment can occur in under 10 milliseconds. That is BYD’s stated technical figure; the cited event materials do not provide independent test results.
Exterior and cabin details
The event materials also highlighted an adjustable rear wing intended to increase downforce, carbon-fibre bucket seats, and a carbon-fibre dashboard. BYD said the concept is built on DENZA’s e3 platform.
What remains unconfirmed?
BYD’s cited event announcement presents the Denza Z as a concept and does not establish a retail price or final production specification. The reveal-time report likewise said detailed specifications and pricing had not yet been released. The material cited here does not settle whether or when a production version will be offered, what its final configuration would be, or where it might be sold.

The Denza Z’s debut makes the 911 comparison a useful description of the ambition attributed to the concept in independent coverage, but not proof of equivalent performance, price, or availability. A meaningful comparison would require confirmed production details and comparable data for seating and body style, powertrain, performance, chassis and steering, price, and the markets in which each car is sold.
