BYD launched the 2023 e2 electric hatchback in China on April 6, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 102,800—reported at the time as about US$14,950. That was a yuan-to-dollar conversion of the Chinese launch price, not evidence that the car was sold in the United States for $15,000.
What the $15,000 figure means
CarNewsChina reported two launch versions priced at RMB 102,800 and RMB 109,800. Its roughly US$14,950 figure refers to the lower-priced version at the time of launch; both yuan prices and the conversion are historical, not current quotes. CarNewsChina’s April 2023 launch report places the launch in China.
The price changed in later Chinese-market coverage: CnEVPost reported in March 2024 that the e2 Glory Edition started at RMB 89,800, down from RMB 102,800. That later figure also applies to China and does not establish the car’s current price or availability in 2026. CnEVPost’s March 2024 report covers the Glory Edition.
Battery, range and performance
CarNewsChina’s 2023 reporting listed a 43.2 kWh LFP battery and a claimed range of 405 km on the CLTC test cycle. CLTC is the stated rating, not a promise of the distance the car would cover in everyday driving; the cited reports do not provide independent real-world range testing.

Was the BYD e2 available outside China?
The reports cited here establish a Chinese launch and Chinese-market pricing. They do not establish official sales in other countries, including the United States, or confirm local certification, import eligibility, warranty coverage, service support or connector configuration elsewhere. A converted launch price alone cannot answer those questions.

- Material: Fit for BYD 2025 key case is made of high quality cowhide (nickname crazy horse leather). If you gently press the epidermis, a discoloration effect occurs. It is mainly the first layer of cowhide embryo, which belongs to high quality leather. Mainly popular in Japan, European and American markets.
- Special features: Scratching the leather surface with nails leaves obvious scratches, but after repeated wiping, the scratches disappear. The crazy horse leather has a messy and disorganized surface and a strong leather feel.Because the material is genuine leather, it cannot be completely perfect. It is normal that the surface of the key case is slightly scratched or bitten by mosquitoes. If you have perfectionist requirements for cowhide leather, please purchase carefully after considering.
- Some tips when using: Crazy horse skins are prone to scratches, so try to avoid scratching with hard objects, nails, etc. Avoid oil stains.Try to avoid getting wet as much as possible. The more you use the horse skin, the fuller and brighter it will be. In the later stage, it will create a retro feeling of coating, and the more you use it, the more beautiful it will be.
