BYD launched the Song Ultra EV in China on March 26, 2026, with a displayed price range of 151,900–191,900 yuan. Its top claimed range is 710 km—about 441 miles—while another version is rated at 605 km. Those are China-market figures attributed to BYD, not independently measured results or a U.S. EPA rating.
What does “440-mile range” mean for the Song Ultra EV?
The headline figure is a rounded conversion of BYD’s top stated range: 710 km is about 441 miles. CnEVPost reported two range variants, 605 km and 710 km. The available reporting does not establish an independent road-test result or identify a basis that would make these figures directly comparable with ratings in other markets.
For buyers, the important distinction is that 710 km is the upper China-market claim, not a promise of that distance in every driving condition. The variant with the lower stated figure is rated at 605 km. Both figures are reported by CnEVPost as BYD claims. CnEVPost’s March 26, 2026 launch report.
How much does the BYD Song Ultra EV cost?
BYD’s launch-event page displays prices from 151,900 to 191,900 yuan. CnEVPost reported a launch starting price of 151,900 yuan, below the earlier presale starting price of 155,000 yuan. These are China-market prices; no dollar conversion is included because an exchange-rate date would be needed to make one meaningful.

How quickly does it charge?
BYD’s charging claims, as reported by CnEVPost, are 10% to 70% in five minutes and 97% in nine minutes at normal temperatures. At minus 30°C, charging takes three minutes longer. These are manufacturer claims with stated temperature conditions, not independent charging-test results. The report does not specify additional charging-station or battery-preconditioning conditions, so the times should not be treated as guaranteed in every setup.

What features and specifications has BYD listed?
BYD says the Song Ultra EV uses its second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging across the range. Its model page also lists a 270 kW motor, a 730 L rear cargo area that can expand to 1,659 L, and a 150 L front trunk. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently tested measurements. BYD describes it as “全球首款B级闪充SUV” (“the world’s first B-segment flash-charging SUV”); that is the company’s promotional characterization, not an independently verified comparison.

Is the Song Ultra EV on sale outside China?
