The figures show a monthly rebound, not confirmed sustained annual growth or a company forecast of future growth.
How many vehicles did BYD sell in April 2026?
BYD Company Limited reported 321,123 NEV sales in April 2026, compared with 380,089 in April 2025. The company’s Hong Kong Exchange filing, dated May 3, 2026, lists the figures as unaudited and subject to adjustment and final confirmation. BYD’s filing is the primary source for the monthly total and sales breakdown.
CnEVPost calculated the April total as 15.51% below April 2025 and 6.96% above March 2026. Those comparisons describe different trends: the month improved sequentially, while sales remained lower than a year earlier. CnEVPost’s April sales report provides those percentage comparisons.

The year-to-date figures in the table are from BYD’s unaudited filing. The percentage comparisons are reported by CnEVPost or calculated from the filing’s totals; April alone should not be used to describe the full year-to-date trajectory.

What did BYD sell in April?
Passenger vehicles made up 314,100 of BYD’s April NEV sales. Within that category, battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids were nearly evenly split:

What do BYD’s export and overseas figures mean?
BYD’s filing reports 135,098 NEV exports in April. Separately, CnEVPost reports 134,542 overseas passenger vehicles and pickups, up 70.9% compared with April 2025. These numbers use different categories and scopes, so they are not interchangeable and should not be added together.
In a May 6 official Chinese-language post, BYD confirmed the April total and described overseas sales exceeding 130,000 as a record. That characterization is BYD’s; the post does not make the filing’s export category identical to CnEVPost’s overseas passenger-vehicle-and-pickup measure.

April’s increase over March supports a narrow statement: sales rose month over month. It does not establish continued growth against the prior year, because April sales were below April 2025 and the January–April total was also lower than the same period in 2025. The reviewed filing and BYD’s sales post report past results rather than a forward sales forecast, so they do not substantiate an expectation that growth will continue.
