BYD’s SEAL 6 DM-i is a European-market plug-in hybrid offered as a family sedan and a Touring wagon. The launch specifications list front-wheel drive, a 1.5-litre petrol engine and an LFP Blade Battery. Range, power and cargo capacity vary by body style and trim, and the published figures are WLTP specifications—not independent real-world results.
Which BYD Seal 6 is this?
The European model is named the SEAL 6 DM-i, with a sedan and a Touring wagon. It is not the battery-electric Seal 06 EV, nor is it the SEALION 6 SUV. BYD described the Touring as its first wagon in Europe. BYD’s European launch announcement introduced the two body styles as plug-in hybrid family cars.
Both versions are front-wheel drive and pair a 1.5-litre petrol engine with BYD’s LFP Blade Battery. The Boost trim has a 10.08 kWh battery and 135 kW of total system power; Comfort Lite and Comfort use a 19 kWh battery and have 156 kW.
How does BYD DM-i work?
BYD describes DM-i, or “Dual Mode,” as an electric-motor-led hybrid system with EV and HEV operation. In EV mode, the electric motor alone drives the wheels. In HEV operation, the petrol engine generally generates electricity to charge the battery and supply the motor through an inverter. When more power is needed, the system can switch from series to parallel operation, combining engine and motor output. This is BYD’s description of the system, not an independent technical assessment.

BYD SEAL 6 DM-i range and performance
The figures below are BYD-published WLTP specifications for European variants. WLTP results are test-cycle figures and should not be treated as guaranteed everyday range or consumption.

BYD lists a top speed of 180 km/h. Its specifications also give weighted combined fuel consumption as low as 1.5 L/100 km for larger-battery variants. That is a weighted plug-in-hybrid figure, not the same measure as unweighted combined consumption; the latter is also listed by BYD and differs. The BYD Spain model page separately states up to 140 km of electric range in city driving. That city figure is not interchangeable with the WLTP combined-cycle electric ranges above.

Seal 6 Touring vs sedan: dimensions and boot space
The two body styles share the same length, width and wheelbase; the Touring is 10 mm taller. BYD reports these dimensions and cargo capacities in its European launch specifications.

The sedan’s boot figure is a single capacity with the rear seats up. BYD gives the Touring two figures for seats-up loading, distinguishing cargo to the parcel shelf from space loaded above it. For bulky loads, the Touring offers the higher published maximum with the 40:60 split rear seats folded; the sedan’s maximum is also measured with its rear seats folded.

Equipment, safety and V2L
Equipment depends on trim and country. BYD’s European launch announcement lists a 12.8-inch infotainment display on Boost and Comfort Lite, and a 15.6-inch display on Comfort. It also lists four USB ports and available 50 W wireless phone charging. Touring-specific items include roof rails, a powered tailgate and a rear washer/wiper.
BYD lists seven airbags, ISOFIX/i-Size points, parking sensors and cameras, adaptive or intelligent cruise control, blind-spot detection, fatigue monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane and collision warnings. These are manufacturer-listed features; check the specification for the exact trim and country before assuming a particular item is standard.

The car supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) output up to 3.3 kW, according to BYD, allowing it to power external devices. The connector and compatible equipment can depend on market fitment, so confirm compatibility before buying an adapter or accessory.

Prices are market-specific. BYD Spain’s launch announcement listed recommended prices for mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands of €37,000 for the Boost sedan and €38,500 for the Boost Touring, with higher prices for higher trims. These are not universal prices for other countries. The Spanish announcement also presents campaign and Plan MOVES III figures separately, with conditions and geographic limits.

At the time of the cited Spain model page, BYD displayed a promotional financing price from €26,740. The page made that figure conditional on financing, a subsidy advance, eligibility, approval of the relevant decree and available funds. It should not be read as an unconditional purchase price; check the current offer and terms with a local seller.
BYD’s European launch announcement said the SEAL 6 DM-i was available to order in many European markets and anticipated first customer deliveries before the end of 2025. It listed a six-year manufacturer’s warranty and eight years of drivetrain and battery cover for the European launch versions. Current availability and warranty conditions should be confirmed locally, since market terms can differ and change.
What the specifications can—and cannot—tell you
The published information supports comparisons of trim, body style, battery size and test-cycle figures. It does not establish how far the car will travel on electricity in a particular driver’s conditions, its independent real-world fuel economy, or long-term reliability. Those outcomes depend on factors such as charging, route, weather, speed and load; no independent road-test or reliability findings are cited here.
For a practical shortlist, compare the sedan and Touring’s cargo needs first, then match battery and trim to your likely charging routine. Before deciding, check the local price, equipment list, incentives and warranty terms for the exact market and version you are considering.
