Bugatti identified its 400th Chiron as a Chiron Super Sport, hand-assembled at the Molsheim Atelier and finished in dark-green-tinted bare carbon fiber. The company announced the milestone on October 27, 2022, saying the car was ready to be united with its owner.
What is the 400th Bugatti Chiron?
It is a Chiron Super Sport—not a claim that Bugatti had built 400 Super Sports. In its October 27, 2022 announcement, Bugatti called it the 400th Chiron and identified the specific variant as a Super Sport. The car was completed at the company’s Molsheim Atelier in France. Bugatti’s announcement said it was ready to be united with its owner.
Why the dark-green carbon finish stands out
The owner chose bare carbon fiber tinted dark green, a finish intended to show the material rather than conceal it beneath conventional paint. Bugatti said the carbon weave had to align and flow across neighboring body panels, and that the material itself could not have imperfections. That makes the visual effect dependent on the carbon’s exposed surface and the continuity of its pattern, not simply its color.
Bugatti also described a finishing process that can involve up to eight top-coat layers, each polished to a mirror finish. That is a general description of the company’s finishing process; the announcement does not say that all those layers were applied to this exposed-carbon body.

How Bugatti said the milestone car was built
Bugatti announced the Chiron in 2016 with a planned production run of 500 cars. For the 400th example, the company described around two months of hand assembly involving 20 highly skilled craftspeople and around 1,800 separate components. These are figures from Bugatti’s 2022 account, not independently verified production measurements.
