Bugatti priced the W16 Mistral at €5 million net per car, limited production to 99 examples and said the entire run was sold out when it announced the roadster in 2022. In July 2026, the company confirmed that production had ended with all 99 built. The launch price was stated in euros—not as an official $5 million price—and the Mistral was the final roadgoing Bugatti powered by the W16.
How much did the Bugatti W16 Mistral cost?
Bugatti announced a launch price of €5 million net per car in 2022. That is the manufacturer’s euro-denominated price; Bugatti did not state an official dollar price. A dollar equivalent would depend on the exchange rate on a chosen date and on the applicable tax basis, so “$5 million” should not be treated as Bugatti’s quoted price. Bugatti’s 2022 launch announcement gives the price and production limit.
Is the Mistral sold out, and how many were made?
Yes. Bugatti announced in 2022 that the full allocation of 99 cars was sold out; its Monterey Car Week account said all 99 had been spoken for even before the public reveal. In July 2026, Bugatti reported that production had concluded and confirmed that 99 examples were built. The factory run is therefore complete. That does not establish whether privately owned cars are currently offered for resale or what they might cost on the secondary market.

Why is the W16 Mistral significant?
The W16’s final roadgoing Bugatti
Bugatti presented the Mistral as the final roadgoing appearance of its W16 engine. Its 2026 production-end announcement described the car as the engine’s swansong in road cars. The Mistral used the definitive W16 incarnation, announced at 1,600 PS; Bugatti says this version first appeared in the Chiron Super Sport 300+. PS is the unit Bugatti quoted, so it should not be relabeled as horsepower without a conversion.
An open-top design developed for the car
Bugatti describes the Mistral as a bespoke roadster, not simply a coupe with its roof removed. The company says it reengineered and reshaped the existing monocoque for open-top use. Its design details include roof-mounted engine air scoops behind the occupants, a curved windscreen, vertically stacked bespoke headlights and an X-shaped rear-light motif. These are Bugatti’s descriptions of the car’s design.

A name and inspiration rooted in history
The name refers to the mistral, a wind associated with the Rhône valley and the Mediterranean. Bugatti identifies the 1934 Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid as a styling inspiration, and places the car in a lineage that also includes the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse and Chiron Super Sport 300+.
What was the Mistral speed record?
Bugatti says Andy Wallace drove a one-off W16 Mistral World Record Car to 453.91 km/h (282 mph) at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg in November 2024. In its 2026 announcement, the company described the result as the fastest open-top production-car speed. The figure belongs to that specific one-off record car; it is not a reported result for every customer Mistral. Bugatti’s production-end account provides the date, driver, location and speed.

Can you still order a new Mistral from Bugatti?
No new car remains in the original factory allocation: the 99-car run sold out and has now been completed. The available evidence establishes the end of factory production, not the current availability or asking prices of privately owned cars. A prospective buyer would need to check current private or dealer listings; no resale price follows from the original €5 million net launch figure.
