It introduces a new platform, a naturally aspirated V16 and three electric motors in place of the Chiron’s quad-turbo W16. Bugatti quotes 1,800 hp, a 2.0-second 0–100 km/h time and a 445 km/h top speed for the Tourbillon, compared with 1,500 PS, 2.4 seconds and a road-use-limited 420 km/h for the base Chiron. These are Bugatti specifications, not independent test results.
Here are the seven changes that define the generational break.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →1. The engine changes from a quad-turbo W16 to a naturally aspirated V16
The Chiron’s identity is tied to an 8.0-liter W16 fed by four turbochargers. The Tourbillon replaces that arrangement with an 8.3-liter V16 developed with Cosworth and without turbochargers. That makes aspiration—not merely displacement—the most visible engineering change. The Tourbillon’s engine is designed to deliver 1,000 hp on its own, while the Chiron’s quoted base output is 1,500 PS from its combustion powertrain.

Bugatti’s published Chiron figures apply to the base car in this comparison. They should not be mixed with the Chiron Super Sport’s separately quoted 1,600 PS output.
2. The Tourbillon adds a three-motor hybrid system
Electrification is the second fundamental break. The Tourbillon places two electric motors on the front axle and a third at the rear. Bugatti attributes 800 hp to these motors, producing all-wheel drive and filling in the response of the V16.
The Chiron represents Bugatti’s non-hybrid W16 generation here. The comparison therefore involves a conventional combustion hypercar architecture on one side and a high-output hybrid system on the other, rather than two versions of the same drivetrain.

3. Bugatti claims quicker acceleration and a higher maximum speed
Bugatti lists 0–100 km/h in 2.0 seconds for the Tourbillon, versus 2.4 seconds for the base Chiron. Its stated top speed is 445 km/h; the Chiron’s road-use speed is electronically limited to 420 km/h. Both figures are manufacturer claims.

These numbers describe the launch specifications, not instrumented comparisons conducted by an independent testing organisation. They also exclude the different performance envelopes of Chiron derivatives such as the Super Sport.
4. A new platform changes the packaging
Bugatti says the Tourbillon introduces a new platform after the basic Veyron/Chiron architecture served for roughly two decades. The structure has to accommodate the V16, front electric axle, rear motor and battery system.
Bugatti also describes the Tourbillon as lighter than the Chiron despite its hybrid hardware. The cited launch material does not provide matched curb weights, so there is no defensible weight difference to calculate. The important point is architectural: the hybrid components are integrated into a clean-sheet vehicle rather than added to the Chiron platform.

5. The cabin shifts toward mechanical, watch-inspired instruments
The Tourbillon’s interior is presented as a change in cabin philosophy as much as a styling update. Bugatti describes a mechanical instrument cluster inspired by fine watchmaking and a center display that retracts from view. The emphasis is on visible mechanisms and permanence instead of a conventional permanently exposed digital screen.

That description establishes a generational design direction, not a complete equipment-by-equipment comparison with every Chiron specification. Exact standard features and options should be checked against the relevant car.
6. Production ends for the Chiron while the Tourbillon is planned as an even smaller run
Bugatti limited the Chiron to 500 cars, and the company announced completion of the final example in May 2024. The Tourbillon launch announcement set a 250-car production plan—half the Chiron’s total.
Bugatti said customer deliveries were expected in 2026. That launch-era statement is a plan, not confirmation that all cars had been delivered. Its technical-data index also noted at launch that type approval had not yet been granted; approval and delivery status should be verified against Bugatti’s latest updates.
7. The Tourbillon starts from a higher historical launch price
Bugatti announced a Tourbillon starting price of €3.8 million before taxes. The original Chiron launch material gave the base car a €2.4 million net price.

Those are nominal launch prices from different years. They are not inflation-adjusted, do not represent current resale values and should not be treated as a like-for-like quotation for a used Chiron or for a higher-performance Chiron variant.
What the seven differences mean
The Tourbillon preserves Bugatti’s pursuit of extreme speed but changes the recipe: naturally aspirated V16 character, three-motor electric assistance, a new platform and a more mechanical interior. The Chiron remains the defining 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 generation, with production now complete.
