The available 2026 U.S. price and specification information supports a shortlist of inline-four motorcycles, not ten comparable, verified picks. Among the candidates with current U.S. pricing, the Honda CB650R E-Clutch starts at $8,699 before its $600 destination charge, while Kawasaki’s Ninja ZX-4R ABS starts at $9,299. These bikes serve different purposes: the Honda is an upright 649cc standard, and the Kawasaki is a faired 399cc supersport.
Prices below are manufacturer-published U.S. base MSRPs unless otherwise noted—not dealer quotes or out-the-door totals. This guide identifies what can be compared now and what remains unverified rather than padding a “top 10” with unsupported picks.
What counts as a budget-friendly inline-four in this shortlist?
“Budget-friendly” is relative within the inline-four category. For the 2026 U.S. models with documented prices here, published base MSRPs range from $8,699 to $11,599. That is a narrow, evidence-backed comparison—not a complete survey of every new motorcycle or the used market.
A base MSRP does not tell you what you will pay at a dealership. Honda lists $600 destination for the CB650R E-Clutch, bringing its shown price to $9,299 before other charges. Kawasaki says its base MSRP excludes destination, options, taxes, title, license, and dealer fees. Request a written, local out-the-door quote before comparing final costs.

Which one fits your priorities?
Choose the CB650R if you want an upright street bike
The CB650R is the clear style contrast to the faired Ninja models: it is a standard with a 649cc inline-four. Its listed $8,699 base MSRP is the lowest among the current U.S.-priced candidates here, but include Honda’s $600 destination charge in a realistic comparison. Honda also lists the 2026 CB650R E-Clutch at £7,999 in the United Kingdom; that UK price is a separate market figure and is not directly comparable to U.S. MSRP. Honda UK model page
Choose the ZX-4R for a smaller-displacement faired option
The ZX-4R pairs a 399cc inline-four with full sport-bike bodywork. Kawasaki’s 2026 U.S. specification sheet lists 56.0 hp at 11,500 rpm. Its high-revving, compact-engine proposition differs from the larger-displacement CB650R; compare riding position and intended use, not just MSRP.

Consider the ZX-4RR only if its equipment matters to you
The ZX-4RR is $700 above the ZX-4R by the published U.S. base MSRPs. Kawasaki lists the same displacement and peak horsepower figure for both. The RR’s upgraded suspension and dual-direction quick shifter are the meaningful reasons to consider paying more; if those features are not priorities, the price difference may be hard to justify on the information available.
Treat the ZX-6R as the higher-price comparison
At a starting MSRP of $11,599, the 636cc ZX-6R is $2,300 above the ZX-4R’s base MSRP. It is a useful reference for a larger-displacement supersport, but it is not the lowest-cost route among these documented choices.
Why this is a shortlist, not ten ranked motorcycles
The current source material verifies fewer than ten comparable models with model-year-specific U.S. pricing and inline-four details. It does not establish a defensible top-ten ranking. Two additional possibilities are not ready to count as verified picks:
- Honda CBR650R E-Clutch: Honda describes the model as an inline-four, but a current 2026 U.S. price was not established. A search result surfaced a $700 offer on 2025 units; its current eligibility and terms are unverified, so it should not be treated as a current discount or price.
- Kawasaki Z900: Kawasaki lists a $9,999 starting MSRP and includes the model among its current Z lineup, but the specific current specification page needed to confirm engine details was not established here.
Used motorcycles could broaden the price range, but no model-year-specific U.S. asking prices or comparable condition assumptions are established here. A meaningful used-bike ranking would need current listings and a clear basis for comparing mileage, condition, service history, and inspection findings.

How to compare the real purchase cost
- Confirm the exact model year and trim. A model name alone does not establish that a price or feature applies to the bike you are considering.
- Start with the manufacturer’s price basis. Separate base MSRP from destination and any listed options. For the CB650R E-Clutch, Honda shows $8,699 base MSRP plus $600 destination.
- Get a dealer’s written out-the-door quote. Ask for destination, setup or dealer charges, taxes, title, and license fees to be itemized. Local costs can make two advertised MSRPs a poor guide to final price.
- Compare the bikes by use as well as cost. The CB650R is an upright standard; the ZX-4R and ZX-4RR are smaller-displacement faired supersports; the ZX-6R is a higher-priced 636cc supersport.
