How the Greentell system works
Greentell is a matched disc-and-pad system, not simply a coating sold as a standalone brake part. Brembo describes the disc as cast iron with a nickel-free, double-layer coating applied using Laser Metal Deposition (LMD). The coating is intended to improve corrosion resistance and durability, while the dedicated pad is designed to work with the treated disc.

Brembo says the coating can be applied to integral, co-cast, lightweight and floating discs. The company presents the integrated disc-and-pad pairing as central to its wear and particulate-emissions results; those figures should not be attributed to the coating alone.

Is Greentell available for your car?
Brembo describes Greentell for original-equipment use across new-energy and combustion vehicles, premium cars and light commercial vehicles. The available product information does not identify specific vehicle models or confirm a consumer aftermarket launch, so it does not establish that an owner can buy a replacement set for a particular car.

Where Greentell fits in Brembo’s other brake-emissions work
Greentell follows earlier work on brake wear, but it is not interchangeable with Brembo’s other projects. In its 2023 annual reporting, Brembo described Greentive, introduced in 2020, as a coated cast-iron disc paired with specially developed friction material to reduce wear, extend disc life and cut particulate emissions. That history provides context; it does not establish that Greentive and Greentell have identical designs.
Brembo’s RE-BREATH project is separate: the European Commission LIFE-funded effort addresses particulate emissions in urban fleets with a heavy-duty system combining low-wear cast-iron discs and copper-free pads. SENSIFY is separate as well—a software-and-mechatronics braking platform, not Greentell’s coated disc and paired friction material.
