The Brammo Empulse 10.0 was announced in July 2010 as the largest and fastest-range model in a planned three-bike lineup—not as a confirmed production motorcycle. Brammo projected an average 100-mile range, an estimated $13,995 MSRP, and deliveries beginning in mid-2011. The later production bikes were named Empulse and Empulse R; their specifications should not be mistaken for specifications of the announced 10.0.
What was the Brammo Empulse 10.0?
Brammo introduced the Empulse 10.0 on July 15, 2010, as the top model in a planned family that also included the Empulse 6.0 and 8.0. The company described the three motorcycles as capable of exceeding 100 mph. For the 10.0, it advertised a 100-mile average range on a charge, with the possibility of greater range at lower speeds. These were company claims about a planned model, not results from an independent test.
Brammo estimated a $13,995 MSRP and said deliveries were expected to begin in mid-2011. The announcement establishes the plan and its projections; it does not establish that the exact 10.0 entered production or was delivered. Brammo’s July 2010 announcement is the basis for the model description and figures.
How did the announced 10.0 differ from the later production Empulse R?
In 2012, Brammo announced production motorcycles under the names Empulse and Empulse R. Those were later, differently named models with their own specifications and launch prices. The company’s 2012 data do not confirm the 10.0’s production, nor should Empulse R specifications be backdated to the 2010 proposal.

What do the 2012 Empulse R range figures mean?
The Empulse R specification table reports 121 miles in city conditions, 56 miles on the highway, and 77 miles combined. Those values belong to the 2012 Empulse R, not the proposed 2010 Empulse 10.0, and Brammo ties them to named procedures rather than presenting them as an unqualified everyday range guarantee.

The table also lists the Empulse R battery at 9.31 kWh nominal and 10.2 kWh maximum, peak motor output at 40 kW (54 hp), peak torque at 63 Nm, and maximum speed above 100 mph. These are manufacturer specifications for the R. The release says a full recharge could take 3.5 hours under its stated conditions and describes onboard J1772 Level II charging; neither detail is established for the 2010 10.0.
What drivetrain did Brammo describe for the production bikes?
Brammo’s 2012 announcement described a water-cooled permanent-magnet AC motor paired with an integrated electric transmission offering six speeds. A May 16, 2012 announcement from supplier Sevcon says its Gen4 motor controllers were selected for the Empulse and Empulse R; it describes the R’s Integrated Electric Transmission as a motor, clutch, and six-speed manual gearbox. This corroborates details about the later production models, not the earlier 10.0 plan. Sevcon’s announcement provides the supplier’s description.

Was the Empulse 10.0 actually available to buy?
The available announcements do not establish production or current availability of an exact Empulse 10.0. They also do not establish current stock, surviving-bike values, or compatibility of replacement batteries, charging equipment, manuals, or other parts with that planned model. The J1772 charging and battery-capacity details cited above belong to the later Empulse/Empulse R announcements, so they are not proof of fitment for a 10.0.
For historical accuracy, the safest description is that Brammo announced the Empulse 10.0 in 2010 as a planned model, then publicized production Empulse and Empulse R motorcycles in 2012. The available company and supplier announcements do not provide an independent road test or a production record for the exact 10.0.
