The North American launch announcement rated the T86 at 105 hp and 3,800 lb of rated operating capacity, and offered three auxiliary hydraulic-flow configurations for matching the machines to different attachments.
What are the Bobcat T86 and S86?
The T86 is a compact track loader; the S86 is a skid-steer loader. Bobcat introduced both in its R-Series lineup in 2022. The company said the new models brought more capability as tool carriers and work machines, but the launch announcements are manufacturer claims, not independent comparative tests.
Bobcat’s product categories distinguish compact track loaders from skid-steer loaders, but the category information does not establish that one model is universally better. The practical choice depends on the jobsite’s surfaces, maneuvering requirements and work plan. For product-category context, see Bobcat’s loader information.
How much horsepower does the T86 have?
In Bobcat’s September 2022 North American launch announcement, the T86 was rated at 105 hp with a 3,800 lb rated operating capacity. Those are launch-context figures; confirm the specification for the machine’s market, model year and configuration before relying on them for a purchase or job plan.

Bobcat Europe described the European machines as powered by a Stage V-compliant 3.4-litre engine rated at 78 kW (105 HP) at 2,600 rpm. That regional engine specification should not be treated as universal across markets or configurations.
How does auxiliary hydraulic flow affect attachment choice?
Bobcat’s North American launch release listed three auxiliary-flow configurations. The pressure rating differs for super flow, so flow alone is not enough to establish compatibility.

| Configuration | Flow | Pressure | Bobcat examples at launch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard flow | 23.0 gpm | 3,500 psi | General auxiliary-hydraulic work; the launch release did not tie a specific named attachment class to standard flow. |
| High flow | 36.6 gpm | 3,500 psi | Flail cutters, trenchers, planers and stump grinders. |
| Super flow | 42 gpm | 4,061 psi | Demanding approved implements such as cold planers and forestry drum mulchers; Bobcat also cited snowblowers. |
These are the North American launch figures published by Bobcat in 2022. Before using an attachment, compare its approved flow and pressure requirements with the loader’s actual configuration, and verify compatibility with Bobcat or the attachment manufacturer. An attachment example is not a guarantee that every version of that implement will work on every T86 or S86.
What is the difference between the T86 and S86?
The key distinction established by the launch information is the machine type: the T86 is tracked, while the S86 is a skid-steer loader. Choose based on the particular site and work rather than assuming a universal advantage for either model. The launch announcements do not provide a controlled comparison of traction, ground disturbance, speed, maneuverability or operating cost, so those factors require model- and site-specific evidence.

Hydraulic configuration is another decision point for either loader: select a machine and configuration that meet the attachment maker’s approved flow and pressure requirements. Do not assume that a shared attachment category means the same compatibility across all machine configurations.
What changed for European buyers?
Bobcat Europe described the T86 and S86 as R-Series loaders replacing the previous 700 and 800 M-Series machines. Its September 2022 announcement used European Stage V emissions framing and specified the 3.4-litre, 78 kW (105 HP) engine noted above. Equipment details and options can vary by market, so buyers should identify their region and machine configuration when comparing specifications.

What should buyers verify now?
The launch announcements document the 2022 introduction, not today’s stock, prices, rental terms or financing. Bobcat directs customers to its independent dealer and distributor network for loader and attachment support. Contact a local dealer to check current availability and pricing, and confirm the machine configuration and attachment compatibility for the intended work.
