BMW planerar en helelektrisk modell i instegssegmentet för Europa och en ny, större SAV placerad över X7. Samtidigt siktar bolaget på att höja fordonssegmentets EBIT-marginal till 3–5 procent 2028 och 8–10 procent i början av 2030-talet. Det är BMW:s mål, inte uppnådda resultat; bolaget har inte angett pris eller modellnamn för elbilen.
Vad BMW planerar för sina modeller
BMW:s Capital Market Day den 30 september 2026 presenterade en plan som kombinerar en bredare modellpalett i två olika ändar av marknaden: en elbil riktad mot instegssegmentet och en ännu mer exklusiv SAV än X7. BMW Group beskriver satsningarna i sitt pressmeddelande.

En elbil i instegssegmentet för Europa
BMW säger att en ytterligare helelektrisk Neue Klasse-modell ska stärka närvaron i instegssegmentet från 2028, med fokus på Europa. Pressmeddelandet anger varken pris eller slutligt modellnamn. Därför går det inte att slå fast vad BMW menar med ”billigare” i kronor eller jämföra den med en viss modell utifrån den officiella informationen.
En SAV ovanför X7
På motsatt sida av modellutbudet planerar BMW en ny SAV placerad över dagens X7. Det är den positionering BMW har offentliggjort; storlek, modellnamn och lanseringsdatum är inte specificerade. Kombinationen visar att planen inte enbart handlar om att bredda elbilsutbudet nedåt, utan också om att satsa på ett ännu mer exklusivt toppsegment.

Färre efterföljare i vissa modellserier
BMW uppger att flera modeller inte ska få någon efterföljare. En av dem är BMW 2-serie Active Tourer. Det är ett tecken på en mer fokuserad portfölj, men bolagets pressmeddelande räknar inte upp alla berörda modeller.
BMW:s lönsamhetsmål – och vad de betyder
BMW:s mål gäller EBIT-marginalen i fordonssegmentet, alltså inte hela koncernens marginal. EBIT är rörelseresultat före räntor och skatt. Målen är framåtblickande och ska inte läsas som prognoser med redovisad sannolikhet eller som resultat BMW redan har uppnått.

BMW har inte redovisat hur stor del av en eventuell marginalförbättring som ska komma från de nya modellerna, besparingar, regionalisering eller andra åtgärder. Det gör att målen beskriver vart bolaget vill nå, men inte hur mycket varje enskild satsning väntas bidra.
Så ska BMW försöka förändra verksamheten
En mer fokuserad och regionaliserad portfölj
BMW planerar att koncentrera modellportföljen och anpassa den mer efter olika regioner. För Kina är målet att minst 95 procent av de lokalt tillverkade fordonen ska vara utvecklade för kinesiska kundpreferenser senast 2030. BMW utvärderar också export från Kina till Sydostasien, men beskriver inte detta som ett fattat exportbeslut.

Effektivisering och färre chefsled
Bolaget säger att det ska effektivisera hela värdekedjan och minska antalet divisioner med tillhörande ledningsroller med 20 procent. Enligt den svenska artikeln i auto motor & sport, publicerad 1 oktober 2026, väntas sparpaketet beröra omkring 8 000 arbetstillfällen i Tyskland och divisionsminskningen vara genomförd till mitten av 2027, med omkring 100 högre chefsjobb berörda. AI genom fler delar av verksamheten
BMW säger att AI ska användas brett, från utveckling och inköp till produktion och eftermarknad. Pressmeddelandet anger inte någon separat besparing eller intäktsökning som AI väntas ge.

Vad som är bekräftat – och vad som kommer från den svenska artikeln
BMW:s officiella kommunikation bekräftar de övergripande marginalmålen, en helelektrisk modell i instegssegmentet för Europa, en SAV ovanför X7, 20-procentsmålet för divisioner och tillhörande chefsroller samt att 2-serie Active Tourer inte får någon efterföljare.
auto motor & sport uppger dessutom att en billigare elbil planeras inför 2028, att dieselversionen av 3-serie sedan ska läggas ned och att BMW investerar 2 miljarder euro i tysk produktion av nästa 3-serie. De uppgifterna bör tillskrivas artikeln, inte behandlas som detaljer som bekräftas av BMW:s granskade pressmeddelande. Den svenska rubrikens formulering att de nya bilarna ska ”öka vinsten” är en sammanfattning av satsningens avsikt, inte ett ordagrant BMW-citat eller belagd effekt.

Vad planen säger om BMW:s strategi
Modellplanen kombinerar en möjlig väg in i Neue Klasse för europeiska kunder i instegssegmentet med en expansion i premiumtoppen. Samtidigt ska BMW renodla utbudet, anpassa fler bilar efter lokala marknader och effektivisera organisation och värdekedja. Det är en bred omställning snarare än en strategi som bygger på en enda ny bil.
BMW:s vd Milan Nedeljković sade: “The BMW Group has the critical expertise to successfully pursue this path.” Uttalandet uttrycker bolagets syn på genomförandet; det är inte oberoende belägg för att målen kommer att nås. Varken det officiella pressmeddelandet eller den svenska artikelns uppgifter visar hur sannolikt marginalmålen är eller vilken ekonomisk effekt varje åtgärd får.
