The BMW M240i xDrive is the more practical pick for daily driving if you value all-wheel drive, a lower starting price, and its documented four-seat layout and luggage capacity. That does not prove it rides more comfortably: BMW’s published specifications do not establish a comfort advantage over the M2. The choice also depends on which M2 you mean, since BMW USA lists both a rear-wheel-drive M2 Coupe and an M2 M xDrive.

The M240i xDrive comes with BMW’s xDrive system. BMW describes it as intelligent all-wheel drive that provides enhanced traction in adverse weather and road conditions. That capability may be useful if your regular routes include rain or snow, but it does not replace appropriate tires or cautious driving.

BMW’s 2025 M240i xDrive specifications list four seats and 13.8 cubic feet of luggage capacity. BMW’s June 2024 U.S. release described the 2025 M2’s rear-wheel-drive configuration with a six-speed manual and inline-six engine, and positioned its chassis for both everyday driving and track use. That is BMW’s description of the car’s intent, not an independent ride assessment. The M2’s extra output and more dedicated M performance character may matter more to a buyer than the M240i’s traction and lower listed price.

The 2025 M240i xDrive release lists 382 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, rather than the 386 hp shown on BMW USA’s current page. It also specifies a 3.0-liter inline-six, 3,871-pound curb weight, 179.0-inch length, and 38.1-foot turning circle. These are model-year 2025 specifications, not substitutes for confirming the details of a current or used car.

How to choose for your own daily use
- Choose the M240i xDrive if all-weather traction, its lower current listed starting price, and the documented 2025 seating and luggage specifications line up with your needs.
- Choose the M2 if its higher output and M performance character are worth the price premium to you, and you prefer the specific drivetrain and transmission configuration available on the car you are shopping for.
- Test-drive both if ride comfort, noise, or how each behaves on your usual roads will decide the purchase. The available BMW specifications do not establish which rides more comfortably.
