How fast did the BMW M2 CS lap the Nürburgring?
BMW M and the Nürburgring list the exact time as 7 minutes, 25.534 seconds. BMW Group PressClub USA reported the lap as 7:25.5, a rounding of the more precise figure. The lap was completed on the Nordschleife on 11 April 2025. BMW M’s record-lap account and the Nürburgring’s official record listing give the precise time.
What record did the M2 CS set?
The achievement was a compact-class Nordschleife record. BMW said the M2 CS beat the previous compact-car best by eight seconds and became the first vehicle in the compact class to break the 7:30 mark. Those are class-specific claims; 7:25.534 is not the circuit’s overall lap record. The Nürburgring lists the M2 CS in the compact category. BMW’s announcement and the circuit’s record material identify the class context.
Who drove the lap, and what was the car equipped with?
Jörg Weidinger, a BMW M development engineer, was at the wheel. BMW M’s official video description lists Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires in 275/35R19 size at the front and 285/30R20 at the rear on the record car. That equipment detail describes the car used; it does not establish that the tires alone produced the record. BMW M’s video description identifies the tire fitment.

BMW M also reports that the car’s speedometer reached 298 km/h during the lap. This is BMW M’s reported speedometer peak, not an independently measured top-speed result. The M2 CS G87 is listed at 390 kW (530 hp) by BMW M’s CS model overview.
How to compare Nürburgring lap times
A lap time is meaningful only alongside the layout and category it belongs to. BMW’s US release describes the Nordschleife as 12.9 miles; BMW M cites 20.823 kilometres. When comparing times, confirm that the same Nordschleife configuration and class are being compared, and check the date and timing precision. A rounded 7:25.5 and an exact 7:25.534 describe the same M2 CS lap, not separate results. The published records establish this event and its class claim, but do not provide a complete rival-by-rival comparison under identical conditions.
