The BMW Concept F 450 GS previewed a smaller, A2-class adventure bike in November 2024. BMW presented the production F 450 GS in November 2025, but its specifications differ from the concept’s: the series model has a 420 cc engine, not 450 cc. BMW UK says it is expected to be available there by the end of 2026; that timing does not establish a launch date for other markets.
What is the BMW F 450 GS?
The F 450 GS is BMW Motorrad’s smaller adventure motorcycle, positioned between the G 310 and F 800/900 families. BMW introduced the Concept F 450 GS in November 2024 as an A2-class preview, then presented the production model in November 2025. BMW described the concept as intended for urban riding, winding roads and off-road use; those are manufacturer positioning statements, not independent test findings.

The change from concept to production matters when reading specifications: concept-era figures describe a 450 cc, 175 kg machine, while production figures describe a 420 cc model with weights that vary by regional specification page.
How is the production F 450 GS different from the concept?
| Specification | Concept F 450 GS (2024) | Production F 450 GS (2025) |
|---|---|---|
| Engine displacement | 450 cc (BMW Motorrad concept page) | 420 cm³ (BMW Group production press kit; BMW UK also lists 420 cc) |
| Rated output | 48 hp (BMW Motorrad concept page) | 35 kW (48 hp) at 8,750 rpm (BMW Group production press kit) |
| Maximum torque | Not stated on BMW’s concept page | 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm (BMW Group production press kit) |
| Weight | 175 kg (BMW Motorrad concept page) | 178 kg (BMW UK technical data); 393 lb (BMW USA technical data). These are regional figures and should not be treated as a single universal value. |
| Display | 6.5-inch TFT (BMW Group’s November 2024 concept release) | 6.5-inch TFT (BMW Group production press kit) |
| Wheels | 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cross-spoke wheels fitted to the concept; BMW said cast-aluminium wheels of the same dimensions were also conceivable for production. | BMW’s production press kit lists original cross-spoke wheels as an optional item on request at market launch; confirm fitment and availability in the buyer’s market. |

What does the production model offer?
Engine and A2-class output
BMW’s global production press kit specifies a 420 cm³ inline two-cylinder engine rated at 35 kW (48 hp) at 8,750 rpm, with maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The press kit also states EU5+ compliance. BMW’s 2024 concept announcement had already described a newly developed 48 hp inline twin for the A2 class; the production engine’s published displacement is 420 cm³.
Chassis and equipment details
The production press kit specifies a 135-degree crankpin offset and a single balance shaft. It also lists a front 310 mm disc with a Brembo four-piston fixed caliper. An Akrapovič end muffler and original BMW cross-spoke wheels are described as optional equipment at market launch; actual fitment and availability depend on market and configuration.

When will the BMW F 450 GS be available?
BMW Motorrad UK’s current model page says the production F 450 GS is “Expected to be available by the end of 2026.” This is a UK-market statement, not a confirmed worldwide launch date. The cited official pages do not establish a US sale date or local pricing for other markets.

What did BMW promise about the concept?
BMW’s 2024 launch material emphasized handling, performance and accessibility. Product Manager Sepp Mächler said the development goal was “to achieve the best handling for this segment and combine it with strong performance and optimal accessibility.” Project manager Johann Simon said BMW would implement the bike “as close as possible to this concept” after its sporty off-road focus. These are BMW’s stated intentions, not independent evaluations of the production motorcycle.
Likewise, Head of BMW Motorrad Design Alexander Buckan said the concept “looks like a true BMW GS at first glance.” That is a design assessment from BMW, not a comparative test result. No independent road-test findings or independently measured performance results are established by the cited sources.
