Its feature list includes reading and clearing codes, freeze-frame data, supported live data, repair reports, smog-readiness checks, and Mode 6 results. Whether those features make it a good fit depends chiefly on your exact vehicle and which systems you need to scan: enhanced ABS, airbag, and TPMS coverage varies by make and model year.
What does BlueDriver Pro do?
The sensor plugs into a vehicle’s OBDII port and communicates with the BlueDriver app over Bluetooth. BlueDriver lists these features for the product:
- Read and clear diagnostic trouble codes.
- Show freeze-frame data captured when a fault was recorded.
- Display supported live data and Mode 6 onboard monitor results.
- Provide repair reports with possible causes and reported fixes.
- Show smog-readiness or inspection-monitor information.
These capabilities are not a promise that every vehicle exposes every system or data point. BlueDriver says diagnostic coverage, including enhanced functions, differs by vehicle. Will BlueDriver work with your car?
BlueDriver says the scanner works with 1996-and-newer cars, SUVs, and light trucks sold in North America, including most gas, diesel, and hybrid vehicles. That is a broad OBDII compatibility statement, not a guarantee that enhanced diagnostics are available on every qualifying vehicle. The company’s compatibility guidance and checker let you check by year, make, model, engine, and original sales region. BlueDriver notes that OBDII compatibility depends on where a vehicle was originally sold, not where it was assembled.

Enhanced ABS, airbag, and TPMS coverage
The product page names enhanced ABS, airbag/SRS, and TPMS coverage for listed makes and model-year ranges. BlueDriver cautions that a particular vehicle may lack a given enhanced function even when other features work through its OBDII port. Check the exact vehicle and module you need before buying; a general claim that the tool works with a brand does not establish coverage for every model or year. Check vehicle compatibility
What the smog-readiness feature does not do
The smog feature reports readiness or inspection-monitor information. It does not perform tailpipe or “sniff” testing in places where that type of test is required, according to BlueDriver’s compatibility page. A readiness result is therefore not itself a complete emissions inspection.

Does BlueDriver require a subscription?
BlueDriver says the Pro sensor purchase includes its app features without subscription fees or add-on charges. The Google Play listing describes the app separately from the Bluetooth sensor, which is a physical product you must obtain. What does it cost?
BlueDriver’s official product page listed the original BlueDriver Pro at $139.95 when checked in 2026. That is a time-sensitive listed price, not a guarantee of the price today. The site also lists a distinct Pro Next-Gen product; do not assume its price or compatibility details apply to the original Pro. How do you set up BlueDriver?
- Install the app: Download the BlueDriver app and log in or create an account.
- Enable Bluetooth: Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and grant the app Bluetooth permission. BlueDriver says Android also needs location permission for stable Bluetooth pairing.
- Connect the sensor: With the ignition in “Key On, Engine Off” mode, plug the sensor into the vehicle’s OBDII port and connect it through the app.
Follow the app’s connection prompts for the vehicle. A successful connection does not establish that every enhanced module or live-data parameter is supported by that vehicle.
Can BlueDriver clear a check-engine light?
BlueDriver can clear codes that the vehicle allows a scan tool to clear, but clearing a code does not repair its cause. BlueDriver says permanent engine codes cannot be erased with a scan tool; the vehicle removes them automatically after it confirms the underlying issue has been resolved. If a warning returns, use the code and other diagnostic information as clues—not proof that a particular part has failed—and diagnose the fault before replacing components. The Google Play listing showed a 3.5-star rating from 16.5K reviews when retrieved in 2026. That score applies to the Android app listing, not a hardware-only assessment. The listing says the app was updated September 9, 2026, with connection-stability improvements and general performance enhancements. Individual reviews describe connection or freezing problems, account requirements, live-data coverage concerns, and price comparisons; these are user reports, not independently verified findings. Who is BlueDriver Pro best suited to?
BlueDriver makes the most sense for an owner or DIYer who is comfortable using a phone for diagnostics, wants more than basic engine-code reading, and has confirmed that the functions they need work with their exact vehicle. Before choosing it over a handheld scanner or another Bluetooth adapter, compare the following:

- Workflow: Decide whether phone-based Bluetooth diagnostics suit you or whether you need a standalone screen.
- Ownership cost: Compare the current upfront hardware price and any software or subscription charges for alternatives.
- Repair information: Consider whether code-specific reports with possible causes and reported fixes are useful for your work.
BlueDriver’s feature list is extensive, but no independent side-by-side test establishes it as the best scanner for every driver or vehicle. Its value turns on confirmed compatibility and whether its app-based workflow matches how you diagnose problems.
