The Bimota KB399 is a 399 cm³ inline-four motorcycle based on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR, with manufacturer-announced maximum power of 58.7 kW (80 hp). Bimota announced the model in March 2026, but the available official notices do not establish a global release or confirm road legality in every market. Kawasaki Motors Japan lists the standard KB399 and KB399 ES for planned sale in Japan in spring 2027.
What is the Bimota KB399?
Bimota describes the KB399 as a compact 399 cm³ motorcycle based on the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR. The launch announcement gives maximum power as 58.7 kW (80 hp). That manufacturer-described platform relationship does not establish that ZX-4RR parts are interchangeable with KB399 parts.
The announcement identifies two versions: the standard KB399 and the more extensively equipped KB399 ES. Both share the announced base performance and equipment.
How much does the Bimota KB399 cost, and when does it go on sale?
In Japan, Kawasaki Motors Japan lists planned prices including Japanese consumption tax of ¥1,466,300 for the KB399 and ¥2,453,000 for the KB399 ES. The notice, dated 19 March 2026, gives a planned release of spring 2027 and says sales will be through authorized Bimota dealers. Other taxes, insurance and registration costs are excluded. These prices and timing are specific to Japan; the notice does not establish pricing or availability elsewhere. Kawasaki Motors Japan’s planned-sales notice says detailed specifications would be announced later.

What is the difference between the KB399 and KB399 ES?
The ES adds premium suspension, dry-carbon bodywork and more adjustable controls. The launch announcement describes the standard version’s equipment and the ES additions as follows:

Kawasaki Motors Japan’s ES-specific list further identifies adjustable shift- and brake-pedal positions. Both versions are announced with a Showa SFF-BP 41 mm front fork, a dedicated Akrapovič silencer, Brembo Stylema radial calipers, traction control with three modes, power-mode selection, integrated riding modes and a quick shifter. The Japanese notice also says ABS is fitted.

Is the Bimota KB399 street-legal?
That depends on the market. Kawasaki Motors Japan’s notice says the Japanese model has ABS, but ABS alone does not establish road-legal certification in other countries. The reviewed launch announcements do not confirm universal street legality or provide a complete account of local homologation. Buyers should check the final specification and registration requirements with an authorized Bimota dealer in their country.

Kawasaki Europe/Bimota’s 18 March 2026 announcement calls the KB399 a 2026 model and provides its displacement, power and equipment details. The Japanese notice issued the following day calls both versions 2027 models, with Japanese sales planned for spring 2027. Those model-year labels refer to different market announcements; they do not prove that the motorcycle has already been released worldwide.
