Bianchi and Gucci teamed up in 2011 on two Italian-designed bicycles: the carbon-fiber Carbon Urban Y2BM1 and the steel Pista Y2BM3. New Atlas reported launch-era prices of US$14,000 and US$6,200 respectively; those are historical figures, not current price quotes. Gucci creative director Frida Giannini designed the collection, which paired Bianchi bicycle engineering with Gucci styling.

What were the Bianchi by Gucci bicycles?

The collaboration comprised two distinct models rather than one bike in different finishes. Bianchi’s December 2011 announcement described a combination of Italian design and craftsmanship, and credited Gucci creative director Frida Giannini with the collection’s design. Both bikes featured Gucci’s green-red-green web stripe.

Giannini also designed a matching helmet, gloves, and water bottle. In the announcement, she said: “Ever since Gucci’s founding, travelling in style has been at the heart of the House’s designs. The Bianchi by Gucci bicycles perfectly carry forward our codes of luxury while creating a new cosmopolitan aesthetic for those looking to turn heads while on the go.” This was a promotional launch statement, not an independent assessment of the bicycles.

Carbon Urban: the geared carbon model

New Atlas reported a weight of 22 pounds (just under 10 kg) for the Carbon Urban. Its component list included a Shimano Alfine internal gear hub and related Alfine drivetrain parts, Shimano Alfine hydraulic disc brakes, Vittoria Randonneur Hyper tires, and a Shimano CN-HG73 chain described as 116 links. These are reported specifications, not results from a comparative ride test.

Pista: the single-speed city bike

The Pista used a white hydro-formed steel frame and single-speed gearing, with Shimano caliper brakes, according to New Atlas. Bianchi described it as intended for city riding. The available sources do not provide a comparable measured weight or a head-to-head riding evaluation for the Pista.

How much did a Bianchi by Gucci bike cost?

New Atlas reported the Carbon Urban at US$14,000 and the Pista at US$6,200 in its December 14, 2011 article. These are launch-era reported prices; neither source establishes a current retail price or resale value. The higher price does not by itself show that the Carbon Urban was faster, lighter in a measured comparison, or better value: the documented differences are in materials, gearing, brakes, components, and intended use.

Where were the bikes sold and shown?

Bianchi’s December 2011 announcement said the collection was available at selected Gucci boutiques, including locations in Rome, Milan, Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Singapore. It also said the models would be shown at Bianchi Café&Cycles in Stockholm. New Atlas likewise described limited Gucci-store availability and the Stockholm showing. These are launch-period distribution details, not evidence of current stock.

Can you still buy one?

The sources establish the historical collaboration but do not confirm that either Gucci-branded model is still sold, or provide a verified current listing, production quantity, or resale price. Anyone looking for the exact historic bicycle can use the collector-oriented search phrase Bianchi by Gucci Carbon Urban Y2BM1 bicycle, but a current listing or availability is not established here.

For present-day Bianchi product guidance, the company’s Rider support page directs customers to its dealer finder and authorized dealers for sizing and price guidance, and to the Lifestyle section for Bianchi clothing and accessories. That page does not say the Gucci collaboration remains available. Owners seeking a replacement Shimano CN-HG73 116-link chain should confirm compatibility with the specific bicycle and drivetrain before buying; the 2011 component report does not establish present stock.

What the collaboration’s history does—and does not—show

Bianchi’s hosted announcement called the project a 90th-anniversary collaboration for Gucci and described Bianchi as having a 126-year cycling history in 2011. Those are the companies’ launch-era descriptions, not independently audited historical claims. Bianchi CEO Bob Ippolito said: “Bianchi is proud to be included in the group of iconic Italian brands selected by Gucci for lifestyle product collaborations”.

The surviving launch descriptions document design, materials, component details, intended uses, branding, reported prices, and distribution. They do not establish production volume, independent performance, current market value, or present availability.
