The highest completed public-auction result established here for a Lamborghini is the 2014 Veneno Roadster, which sold for CHF 8,280,000 including buyer’s premium at Bonhams’ Bonmont Sale in Switzerland on 29 September 2019. Reports convert the result to about US$8.3 million, but the Swiss-franc figure is the clearest basis for comparison.
“Most expensive” can refer to a public sale, a private deal, an auction estimate, a current asking price or an original factory price. Those are not interchangeable. The available examples show why the price category matters—and do not establish a complete ranking of every Lamborghini across all of those measures.
What is the most expensive Lamborghini sold at public auction?
The strongest documented public-auction benchmark in the available examples is the 2014 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster sold at Bonhams’ Bonmont Sale in Switzerland on 29 September 2019. The reported result was CHF 8,280,000 including buyer’s premium. Contemporary reporting places the conversion near US$8.3 million, with slight differences between published dollar conversions; the CHF amount avoids implying a more precise conversion than the sources support. Bonhams’ lot record documents the sale.
This is a record within the documented public-auction evidence, not proof that no Lamborghini has ever changed hands for more in a private or otherwise unreported transaction. Nor does it rank models by original factory price or current asking price.

How do the other reported Lamborghini prices compare?
| Car and transaction | Reported amount | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| 2014 Veneno Roadster, Bonhams Bonmont Sale, Switzerland, 29 September 2019 | CHF 8,280,000 | Completed public-auction result, including buyer’s premium; dollar conversions in reports are approximate. Bonhams lot record |
| 2015 Veneno Roadster, reported in 2024 | US$6,000,000 | A separate transaction arranged after an online auction did not meet its reserve. Reported as the most valuable car sold through an online-only auction platform at the time; it is not a higher public-auction result than the 2019 sale. Carscoops’ report |
| 2022 Countach LPI 800-4, Bonhams Miami catalogue, 2025 | US$1.9 million–US$2.4 million | Catalogue estimate, not a confirmed completed sale. Bonhams’ catalogue entry |
The $6 million Veneno report concerns a different car and a different transaction category from the 2019 Bonhams auction. An estimate, meanwhile, signals an auction house’s expected range rather than what a buyer ultimately paid. Treating all three figures as equivalent “sale prices” would give a misleading comparison.
Why is the Veneno so significant?
Lamborghini describes the Veneno as focused on aerodynamics and cornering stability, with a road-certified design and a carbon-fiber monocoque. Its official history page gives a power-to-weight ratio of 1.93 kg/hp. These details help explain the car’s engineering identity, but they do not establish a market-wide valuation formula or show that any one feature alone caused the auction result. How to compare “most expensive” Lamborghini claims
Before comparing two headline figures, check that they describe the same kind of price and transaction. A useful comparison records:
- Price type: original factory list price, asking price, estimate, negotiated transaction or completed sale.
- Sale channel and status: public auction, online-facilitated deal or private transaction; confirm whether the lot sold and whether a reported deal was finalized.
- What is included: hammer price, buyer’s premium, taxes or other fees. The 2019 Bonhams figure above explicitly includes the buyer’s premium.
- Date, currency and location: exchange rates move, and geography may affect tax treatment and the reported total.
- Specific car: model year, specification and provenance can distinguish one example from another; do not assume a model name alone makes two transactions comparable.
The examples here do not establish a comprehensive ranking by original MSRP, every worldwide auction result, private sales or current asking prices. Use “highest documented public-auction result” when referring to the 2019 Veneno benchmark, rather than claiming it is definitively the highest price under every possible definition.
