Bev Brock, the longtime partner of Australian racing driver Peter Brock, died on 7 April 2024 at age 77. ABC News reported that she had been diagnosed with cancer two years earlier. The Nightly described the cancer as stage four; that detail has not been confirmed by a medical source in the reporting cited here.
Who was Bev Brock?
Beverley “Bev” Brock was a teacher, counsellor, author, environmentalist and road-safety advocate, as well as a steady presence in the world of Australian motorsport. Motorsport Australia says she was born in Western Australia in 1947 and was one of seven children.

She was closely involved in Peter Brock’s career. Motorsport Australia credits her with practical support and organizing signing sessions for his fans. Her work beyond racing included charitable involvement with the Brock Foundation, Skyline Foundation, Melbourne Rotary and Lighthouse Foundation.
Her contributions were recognized with the Prime Minister’s Centennial Medal in 2001 and the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2016, according to Motorsport Australia.

How long were Bev and Peter Brock together?
Bev and Peter Brock were together for almost three decades and separated in 2005, ABC News reported. In a 2015 ABC Radio National interview, Bev described the relationship as “28 years of a most amazing relationship.”
They had two children together. In a statement quoted by ABC News, their son James remembered his mother as “a dedicated parent, always making time to make a costume for a play or help out on a school camp.” He also said she devoted herself to supporting Peter’s racing career, taking on multiple roles “with skill, smarts and purpose.”
James’s account emphasized both her family life and her work behind the scenes in motorsport. Documentary director Kriv Stenders, speaking to ABC Melbourne radio, said, “Peter would not be Peter Brock without Bev.”
What cancer did Bev Brock have?
ABC News reported that Bev had been diagnosed with cancer two years before her death, but did not identify a type or stage. The Nightly reported that she had stage four cancer. What is known about her family?
ABC News says Bev and Peter had two children together. Speedcafe reported that she was survived by three children and seven grandchildren. The figures describe different family totals and are not necessarily contradictory: the two-child count refers specifically to children she had with Peter Brock.
