In one complaint-rate dataset, 2019 is the Buick Enclave year with the lowest reported rate among years with enough history, while 2008 has the highest. The same analysis flags 2014 and 2010 as comparatively weak years. Treat those results as a way to screen candidates—not as a guarantee about any individual vehicle. Maintenance records, condition, and an independent inspection matter more than the model-year label alone.
Which Buick Enclave years look best in the available data?
ForCar’s analysis of NHTSA owner complaints, updated September 2026, puts the 2019 Enclave at 1.41 complaints per VIN production run, the lowest rate in its mature-year table. It puts 2008 highest, at 8.65. The analysis also shows elevated rates for 2014 and 2010 compared with 2019.

These are rates of reported complaints per VIN production run—not the probability that a vehicle will fail, nor an official NHTSA reliability score. ForCar says its Enclave data contains 2,280 owner complaints across 665 production runs, or 3.43 complaints per run versus 3.73 for its market comparison. Complaints reflect issues owners chose to report; they do not measure every ownership problem, running costs, or controlled test results.
Why the data does not produce one definitive winner
ForCar’s short-list language names 2012, 2015, and 2017 among the years worth hunting, even though 2019 has the lowest individual rate in its mature-year table. Those are different ways of summarizing the data, so it is more accurate to say that 2019 has the lowest rate in that table than to call it the definitive best Enclave year.

Recent model years have had less time for owners to report problems. ForCar marks 2022–2025 as too new for a fair ranking and excludes recent years from its best/worst designations. A low or absent complaint total for a newer vehicle should not be mistaken for proven long-term durability.
What other reliability signals say—and what they do not
Consumer Reports search-result extracts characterize the 2017 Enclave as less reliable than other vehicles from the same model year, the 2021 as more reliable, and the 2013 and 2022 as about average. These are limited cross-checks, not a complete year-by-year ranking; the underlying Consumer Reports pages were not accessible for review. Recall counts appearing in some search extracts are not reliability scores and do not tell you whether a particular vehicle has an open recall.

J.D. Power’s page reports a 72/100 Quality & Reliability score labeled average for the 2025 Enclave, but says the previous model year’s rating was applied to the redesigned vehicle. It cautions that first-year redesigned vehicles are unproven. That score is therefore not mature, 2025-specific long-term reliability evidence.
Complaint categories to keep in mind
Across Enclave years, ForCar’s complaint categories include air bags, steering, engine, powertrain, electrical system, structure, and service brakes. Air bags have the highest raw category count, followed by steering and engine. These totals combine model years and do not establish that every Enclave—or every vehicle in a particular year—has the same fault.

How to choose between two used Enclaves
Use the model-year data to decide what deserves closer scrutiny, then judge the individual vehicle. Compare the candidates on:
- Service and repair records: Look for documentation of scheduled maintenance and completed major repairs.
- Condition and history: Consider mileage, age, signs of prior damage, and the findings of an independent pre-purchase inspection.
- Recall completion: Check the vehicle by VIN rather than relying on a model-year recall count.
- Value for your needs: Compare price and trim or features in light of the vehicle’s condition and your expected ownership needs.
The complaint-rate analysis does not establish year-by-year repair costs, failure probabilities, or a mileage-adjusted durability ranking. It is useful as one screening signal, but it cannot substitute for records, a VIN-specific history check, and an inspection of the vehicle you are considering.
