For 2025, the strongest luxury three-row SUV shortlist includes the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X7, Genesis GV80, Volvo XC90, Lincoln Aviator, Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Infiniti QX80. There is no single winner across these models: decide first whether you want midsize dimensions, a genuinely usable third row, space for luggage with every seat occupied, or full-size capacity. The rankings available cover different vehicle classes and use different methods, so they do not support one fair, all-model numerical ranking.
Which 2025 luxury SUVs have three rows?
Consumer Reports’ 2025 ratings and reliability guide names the BMW X7, Audi Q7, Acura MDX, Volvo XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLS, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Aviator, and Infiniti QX80 among luxury three-row SUVs. Kelley Blue Book’s 2025 luxury midsize SUV guide names the Genesis GV80 its highest-rated midsize luxury SUV, with a 4.8 expert rating and a $59,695 starting price as represented on the page accessed in 2026. That price is a page snapshot, not a current quote or a trim-matched comparison.
These sources have different scopes: KBB’s guide covers luxury midsize SUVs, while Consumer Reports’ guide lists models across the segment. Their ratings should not be combined into a single league table. KBB says its editors consider value, cargo, features, technology, driving performance, options, fuel economy, build, and other factors. Consumer Reports describes road tests based on more than 50 objective and subjective tests and evaluations; its Auto Surveys cover over 300,000 vehicles, a survey-scope figure rather than a per-model response count.
Choose the size class before comparing features
Midsize and crossover choices
The Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X7, Genesis GV80, Volvo XC90, and Lincoln Aviator are useful starting points for shoppers considering midsize or crossover models. A three-row label alone does not establish that every model’s rearmost seats suit adults. Try the actual vehicle and configuration, paying attention to access, knee room, and headroom.

Full-size capacity
The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size alternative for buyers who prioritize cabin and cargo scale and can accommodate a larger vehicle. Cadillac’s 2025 brochure lists 34.9 inches of third-row legroom and 120.8 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity for the standard-wheelbase Escalade. For the Escalade ESV, it lists 36.7 inches of third-row legroom and 142.6 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity. Those cargo figures are maximum capacity, not the space left for luggage with all three rows upright.
Check the third row and seat layout in person
Third-row usefulness depends on more than a published dimension. Bring the people who will use it, if possible, and check how easily they can get in and out, whether they can sit comfortably, and whether the second row moves in a way that works for your household. Confirm seatbelt fit and child-seat access as well.

Second-row benches and captain’s chairs change both seating capacity and access. Cars.com notes that captain’s chairs can reduce capacity to six or seven depending on the third-row seating, and that the Acura MDX has a removable second-row center seat that can convert its bench arrangement to captain’s-chair-like seating. Availability can vary by trim, so confirm the exact vehicle rather than relying on a model name alone.
Measure cargo space with all three rows occupied
If you routinely travel with six or seven passengers, look for the cargo measurement behind the upright third row. Maximum cargo volume generally describes a different seating arrangement and cannot tell you how many bags fit when every seat is in use. Compare the same measurement across the exact body style you are considering; an extended-wheelbase version can change the result substantially.

Compare ownership value and safety evidence carefully
Value and ownership costs
Compare equivalent trims using current local pricing, fuel economy, included equipment, optional-feature costs, warranty coverage, and maintenance terms. The GV80’s KBB starting-price figure is useful context for that guide’s page, not enough to establish that it is cheaper to own or a better value than a differently equipped rival.
Reliability forecasts
Consumer Reports says predicted reliability is a forecast based on problems members reported in its Auto Surveys. For models that have not been redesigned or significantly updated, its approach uses the last three model years of data; for all-new or redesigned vehicles, or when survey responses are insufficient, it may draw on brand history and similar models. A forecast is not a guarantee about an individual SUV’s future reliability.

Safety awards
IIHS’s 2025 award list recognizes the 2025–26 Acura MDX with Top Safety Pick and the 2025–26 Genesis GV80 and Volvo XC90 with Top Safety Pick+. The XC90 plug-in hybrid award entry applies to vehicles built after December 2024. Check the award listing against the specific model year, powertrain, and build date you are shopping; this limited set of awards is not a complete safety ranking of every SUV named here.

- Prioritize passenger fit: bring regular passengers and assess the third row and the route into it.
- Prioritize luggage capacity: seek behind-third-row cargo space, not maximum cargo volume with seats folded.
- Need flexible seating: compare bench and captain’s-chair layouts, total capacity, center-seat options, and child-seat access for the exact trim.
- Want a published rating: compare scores only within the same publisher’s category and methodology; do not treat separate guides as one ranking.
- Need a safety distinction: verify the award year and the exact vehicle’s applicability, especially where build-date conditions are stated.
There is not enough consistently gathered comparative test data here to name a universal winner for ride comfort, handling, or quietness across the shortlist. Those priorities are best resolved with a back-to-back drive in the trims you would actually buy.
