The Hyundai Sonata Blue Hybrid has the lowest listed MSRP at $29,200. The Honda Accord Sport Hybrid costs more at $33,795, but has the highest highway estimate of the three at 41 mpg? No: its listed highway rating is 41 mpg, below the Camry’s 50 and Sonata’s 51. These are manufacturer comparison figures, not independent road-test results.

Which 2026 hybrid sedan is best for you?
Best overall on the published figures: Toyota Camry LE Hybrid
The Camry LE Hybrid combines the highest listed combined estimate among these three (51 mpg) with the highest published horsepower (225 hp). Its $29,600 MSRP is $400 above the Sonata Blue Hybrid’s listed MSRP and $4,195 below the Accord Sport Hybrid’s. That makes it a compelling starting point if fuel economy and the published power figure matter most. Neither statistic alone establishes acceleration, ride quality, or driving enjoyment.
Lowest listed starting price: Hyundai Sonata Blue Hybrid
At $29,200 MSRP, the Sonata Blue Hybrid is the least expensive of these compared trims. Its 47-mpg combined estimate is below the Camry’s 51 mpg but above the Accord’s 44 mpg. Its 51-mpg highway estimate is the highest of the three; the Camry is rated at 50 mpg highway and the Accord at 41 mpg highway.

Consider the Honda Accord Sport Hybrid for its broader model strengths
The Accord Sport Hybrid has the highest listed MSRP in this comparison and the lowest combined estimate of the three, at 44 mpg. Car and Driver’s 2026 hybrid-sedan ranking places the Accord ahead of the Camry and Sonata, describing the Accord as offering abundant passenger space, ride-and-handling strengths, and impressive fuel economy. That is an editorial ranking and description, not a universal result or a direct comparison test of the specific trims above. Honda’s Accord page describes Honda Sensing driver-assistance functions; check the equipment for the exact trim before comparing it with competitors.
How to compare fuel economy fairly
EPA fuel-economy estimates are standardized comparisons, not guarantees of what a particular driver will achieve. The U.S. EPA and Department of Energy’s 2026 Fuel Economy Guide notes that ratings can vary with trim and engine. Use the city, highway, and combined figures for the exact trim you are considering, and treat combined mpg as a comparison point rather than a personal forecast.

Hybrid versus plug-in hybrid: what changes?
A conventional hybrid, such as the Camry, Sonata, and Accord trims compared here, does not plug into an external charger for substantial electric driving. It uses gasoline and regenerative braking as part of its hybrid system. A PHEV can be charged from an outlet or charging station, uses both electricity and gasoline, and has separate electric/blended and gasoline-only efficiency measures.

Charging access changes the value equation. A PHEV is most useful to a driver who can charge regularly and wants to cover some trips on electricity. It can still run on gasoline without charging, but the EPA/DOE guide explains that maximum range and fuel economy depend on charging as well as driving conditions, driving style, and accessory use. A conventional hybrid avoids the need to establish a charging routine.

The available manufacturer evidence does not establish which U.S. PHEV sedans are available for the 2026 model year, or their matching prices, EPA electric ranges, and energy-consumption ratings. Toyota’s hybrid-model page identifies the Prius Plug-in Hybrid as a 2027 model and lists up to 44 miles of EPA-estimated electric range and up to 52 mpg combined for that model year. Those figures should not be treated as 2026 Prius specifications or as proof of the 2026 PHEV-sedan lineup.

What to check before choosing a trim
- Get an out-the-door quote. The listed figures are MSRP, not final purchase prices. Toyota’s comparison pages show a $1,295 delivery charge for the compared versions; taxes, registration, dealer options, incentives, and local transaction prices are not included in the listed MSRPs.
- Confirm the exact trim and equipment. Comfort, safety, and technology features can differ by trim. Compare the specific vehicles on dealer lots or the manufacturers’ current trim pages rather than assuming a base-trim price includes the equipment you want.
- Match the rating to your driving. City, highway, and combined estimates can tell different stories: the Sonata leads this group on the listed highway figure, while the Camry leads on combined mpg.
- Decide whether you will charge. If you want a PHEV, verify the exact model year, availability, electric range, efficiency ratings, and price with the manufacturer and EPA before comparing it with conventional hybrids.
