Best Full-Size SUVs Under $100,000 for 2026: Seven Models Worth Comparing

For 2026, the available evidence supports seven full-size, three-row SUVs with configurations starting below $100,000—not a verified top ten. The strongest choices depend on what the budget needs to cover: Chevrolet’s Tahoe and Suburban prioritize passenger and cargo capacity; Toyota’s Sequoia pairs a hybrid powertrain with strong published towing figures; and the Expedition, Yukon, Grand Wagoneer, and Armada offer distinct combinations of space, equipment, and price. Prices below are starting MSRPs or specific comparison-test vehicle prices, not guaranteed transaction prices. Verify the exact trim, drivetrain, destination charge, and options before buying.

How to read this under-$100,000 list

This is a U.S. guide to 2026 full-size, three-row SUVs. It is not a ten-place ranking: the available current comparison names seven candidates, and there is not enough consistent evidence to rank ten eligible models. The models are presented in the order of Car and Driver’s current ranking where available, with manufacturer pricing added where established.

A listed starting price does not mean every trim or a well-equipped example stays below the cap. In particular, a GMC Yukon can exceed $100,000 in higher trims. Manufacturer MSRPs and editorial listing prices can differ as configurations, fees, and listings change. Treat figures as model-year reference points and confirm them on the manufacturer’s current trim page; this guide does not include incentives, dealer discounts, destination charges unless specified, or local taxes.

Car and Driver’s starting-price figures are editorial listing prices. Chevrolet and Toyota figures below are manufacturer-published base prices. MotorTrend prices and fuel-economy figures are for the specific vehicles in its comparison, not universal trim prices or results from a common real-world fuel test. MotorTrend reported tow ratings but did not test towing.

The seven full-size SUVs supported by the available comparison

1. Chevrolet Tahoe — the balanced choice with flexible seating

Chevrolet lists the 2026 Tahoe LS 2WD at $60,700. The manufacturer says available seating configurations accommodate seven, eight, or nine people, with up to 122.7 cubic feet of cargo volume and maximum available towing of 8,400 pounds. Those are configuration-dependent maximums, not specifications guaranteed on every LS. The Tahoe measures 211.3 inches long.

Car and Driver ranks the Tahoe first among the current full-size candidates and gives it a 10/10, praising its on-road refinement and off-road capability. Its broad configuration range makes it a sensible starting point if you need a full-size SUV but do not want the extra length of an extended model. Check the seating layout, drivetrain, and towing equipment on the exact vehicle; maximum passenger, cargo, and tow figures may not coexist in one configuration.

Chevrolet’s 2026 Tahoe page lists current specifications and configuration details. Car and Driver’s full-size SUV ranking provides its editorial price and ranking.

2. GMC Yukon and Yukon XL — upscale space, but watch the trim ceiling

Car and Driver lists the 2026 Yukon/Yukon XL from $72,395 and ranks it second. Its displayed EPA combined range is 16–17 mpg. The editorial description emphasizes room for eight people, luggage, and a trailer, but that is not a promise that every version seats eight or achieves the same fuel economy.

The price cap applies to selected configurations, not the entire lineup: Car and Driver’s listed range reaches $106,695. Compare the standard Yukon with the longer Yukon XL if cargo room is a priority, and verify current trim pricing and dimensions before choosing the extended version. A starting price alone does not establish whether a particular vehicle with desired options remains under $100,000.

See Car and Driver’s ranking for its listed range and editorial assessment.

3. Chevrolet Suburban — a long-body option for people and gear

The 2026 Suburban LS 2WD starts at $63,700 on Chevrolet’s current page. Chevrolet lists up to 144.5 cubic feet of cargo volume and six trims: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. At 226.3 inches long, it is substantially longer than the Tahoe. The cargo maximum reflects a seats-folded configuration; it is not the space available behind an occupied third row.

Car and Driver ranks the Suburban third and highlights its use for towing while carrying up to nine occupants and their cargo. Its length is useful for shoppers who need a large vehicle with a long cargo area, but it should not be called the class leader without a like-for-like comparison against the Yukon XL and Expedition MAX. Confirm the seat layout and towing equipment on the specific trim.

Chevrolet’s 2026 Suburban page lists pricing and specifications. Car and Driver’s ranking supplies its position and editorial assessment.

4. Jeep Grand Wagoneer — luxury equipment at a lower entry point

Car and Driver lists the 2026 Grand Wagoneer from $66,790 and ranks it fourth, with a displayed combined fuel-economy range of 18–19 mpg. Its description says the 2026 line expands downward to cover the role of the former standard Wagoneer while continuing to compete with luxury models. That lower starting point is not a price for every trim or configuration.

MotorTrend’s comparison vehicle was a Grand Wagoneer Limited Reserve 4×4 priced at $84,750 as tested. MotorTrend reported 19 mpg combined and a published tow rating of 10,000 pounds for that test configuration, but did not attempt towing. Use those figures as a specific example rather than as guaranteed results across the lineup.

Compare the actual equipment and drivetrain in a target vehicle with its price: the Car and Driver entry price and MotorTrend’s as-tested price describe different configurations. See Car and Driver’s ranking and MotorTrend’s 2026 comparison.

5. Ford Expedition — a capable alternative, with MAX for more length

Car and Driver lists the 2026 Expedition from $65,495 and reports 18–19 mpg combined. It highlights space, capability, and performance. Shoppers needing a longer body should consider the Expedition MAX, but current MAX pricing and cargo specifications need to be checked directly rather than inferred from the standard model’s starting price.

MotorTrend tested an Expedition Platinum 4×4 priced at $84,495. That vehicle was reported at 18 mpg combined and had a published tow rating of 9,200 pounds. MotorTrend did not test towing, so the tow figure is a rating, not an observed test result. Its price and fuel figure belong to the Platinum 4×4 test vehicle, not every Expedition.

See Car and Driver’s ranking and MotorTrend’s comparison.

6. Nissan Armada — strong published towing capacity and several price points

Nissan lists the 2026 Armada SV 4×2 at $58,840, the SL 4×2 at $63,530, and the NISMO 4×4 at $79,530. Its 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 is rated at 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque; Nissan lists seating for up to eight and maximum towing of 8,500 pounds. Confirm the towing configuration and required equipment before treating that maximum as applicable to a vehicle you are shopping.

Car and Driver’s ranking lists a $61,115 starting price and 18 mpg combined. MotorTrend’s Armada Platinum Reserve 4WD comparison vehicle cost $89,100 as tested and was reported at 16 mpg combined. These figures refer to different listings and trims; do not combine the entry price with the test vehicle’s fuel economy as if they describe one configuration.

Compare Nissan’s Armada model page with Car and Driver’s ranking and MotorTrend’s comparison.

7. Toyota Sequoia — a hybrid powertrain and all-trim base prices below the cap

Toyota lists the 2026 Sequoia SR5 at $65,725. Its six listed trim base prices are all below $100,000:

2026 Sequoia trim Manufacturer-listed base price
SR5 $65,725
Limited $71,495
Platinum $81,735
TRD Pro $82,465
1794 Edition $82,550
Capstone $86,135

Toyota specifies an i-FORCE MAX twin-turbo V6 hybrid producing 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, with maximum towing of 9,500 pounds and up to 22 mpg combined. The maximum fuel-economy figure is not uniform across trims: Toyota lists 21/24 city/highway mpg for SR5 and Limited, and 19/22 for several higher trims. Check the exact trim and drivetrain’s EPA estimate.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Car and Driver ranks the Sequoia seventh. Its assessment notes that the first two rows are spacious but that the vehicle’s utility does not match some full-size rivals; it also places the Sequoia among highly rated hybrid towing options. The hybrid output and tow rating make it worth comparing if fuel use and towing matter, but use the published ratings rather than assuming the maximum tow figure applies to every configuration.

See Toyota’s 2026 Sequoia page for trim pricing and specifications, and Car and Driver’s ranking for the editorial assessment.

Which one fits your needs?

  • For a broad choice of passenger layouts: Start with the Tahoe. Chevrolet lists available seating for seven, eight, or nine, but verify that the configuration you want is available on the trim and drivetrain you are buying.
  • For a long cargo area: Compare the Suburban with the Yukon XL and Expedition MAX. The Suburban’s manufacturer-listed maximum is 144.5 cubic feet with seats configured for maximum cargo, not behind an occupied third row.
  • For a hybrid full-size SUV: The Sequoia is the listed candidate with the specified hybrid powertrain. Its maximum 22-mpg combined figure varies by trim, and its maximum tow rating is configuration-dependent.
  • For a luxury-oriented configuration below the cap: Price the Grand Wagoneer or a specific Yukon trim. The Grand Wagoneer’s published starting price is not the same as MotorTrend’s $84,750 test vehicle, while some Yukon trims exceed the cap.
  • For a published tow rating above 9,000 pounds: The Sequoia is rated up to 9,500 pounds, the Expedition test configuration at 9,200 pounds, and the Grand Wagoneer test configuration at 10,000 pounds. These are not directly comparable test results: MotorTrend did not tow during its comparison, and ratings depend on configuration and equipment.

What is not included in a strict under-$100,000 shortlist

The 2026 Lexus LX 600 Premium starts at $108,050 according to Lexus, so it is outside a strict new-vehicle price ceiling even at its entry trim. Dealer discounts or used examples do not make its new-model starting MSRP eligible. Other luxury possibilities surfaced in broad listings, but their current-year pricing was not established clearly enough to add them as qualifying alternatives.

How to confirm the real price and capability before buying

  1. Choose a body and seating layout. Decide whether a standard-length SUV is sufficient or whether you need an extended model. Check whether you want second-row captain’s chairs or a bench, then verify the actual passenger capacity for that configuration.
  2. Build the exact trim and drivetrain on the manufacturer’s site. Confirm 2WD/4WD availability, destination charges, packages, and options. Do not assume a published starting MSRP includes the equipment you need or that an advertised price represents your local out-the-door cost.
  3. Match towing capacity to the vehicle as equipped. Check the manufacturer’s rating and required tow package, hitch, and other equipment for the precise engine, drivetrain, and trim. A maximum rating is not a substitute for checking the configuration’s payload and the loaded trailer’s weight.
  4. Compare cargo in the configuration you will use. Look for the volume behind the third row if you travel with all seats occupied; maximum cargo volume generally means seats are folded. If possible, measure the items you carry against the cargo area of the specific body style.
  5. Check the EPA estimate for the exact version. Combined fuel economy can change with trim, drivetrain, and equipment. Do not use one comparison vehicle’s reported figure as the estimate for an entire model line.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
