The best electric scooter conversion kit is the one verified to match your exact scooter—not simply one with the same voltage or a high wattage label. A conversion needs a motor, controller, battery, charger, controls, sensors and wiring that work together. Check those parts and the scooter’s physical fit before buying; a listing for a “complete kit” may not include the battery or charger.
What an electric scooter conversion kit includes
A conversion kit is a group of components intended to turn a conventional kick scooter into an electric scooter. The technical safety report identifies the motor, motor controller, battery, off-board charger, handlebar controls (sometimes with a display), vehicle sensors such as speed sensing, and wiring harness as parts of the system. Mounting hardware may also matter, so check the actual package contents.
Do not assume a retailer’s use of “complete” means every system component is included. For example, Capobranco’s 36V 350W kit listing describes a controller, multifunction LCD/display, lights and connection wiring, but does not describe a battery-and-charger package.
Compatibility checks before you buy
Identify the scooter’s exact make, model and version, then compare its existing parts and available mounting space with the kit maker’s specifications. A nominal voltage or wattage match is not enough to establish compatibility.

- Controller and battery: Check the required battery voltage, controller limits, battery-management or communications requirements, and whether the battery is included.
- Controls and sensors: Verify display dimensions and handlebar space, along with sensor type and wiring layout.
- Physical and riding systems: Check frame and wheel clearance, brake compatibility, cable routing, and room for the battery and controller.
- Completeness and support: Establish which charger, controls, sensors, wiring and mounting parts are supplied, and whether the seller provides installation instructions and a way to confirm fit.
- Use and rules: Consider the intended speed and power and check the rules that apply where the scooter will be used. Requirements vary by jurisdiction; do not infer local legality from a product listing.
The cited technical safety report says the motor, controller, vehicle sensors, battery and charger should be specified and validated together. A complete-vehicle safety evaluation does not establish that arbitrary components can safely be combined with parts they were not tested with. When a seller cannot confirm the fit of the complete system, do not treat “universal” or a shared voltage label as proof.
A documented 36V 350W kit example
Capobranco lists a “Complete kit 36V 350W with application for electric scooters,” item KIT01. The retailer describes it for Xiaomi or similar frames and for 250–350W brushless motors with three large and six small wires at the motor output. It also says the display must fit inside the handlebar. These are seller-stated fit conditions and specifications, not independent test results.

This listing is a concrete fit-based candidate, not evidence that the kit fits every Xiaomi-style scooter or that it outperforms alternatives. Marketplace stock and eligibility for any affiliate program have not been verified.
When replacing electronics on an electric scooter
If the scooter is already electric and you are replacing a controller, display or related electronics, look for parts documented for its exact model and version rather than shopping as if it were a generic conversion. Levy’s support guidance, dated May 20, 2022, says its motor controller and LCD/top unit are a programmed pair. YUME’s X11/X11+ product listing likewise says controller types are not interchangeable and asks customers to check the original part version and provide a label photo to confirm the correct model.
