For ordinary car windows

For a taller vehicle or hard-to-reach glass

For a tool that scrubs and clears liquid
Look for a two-sided or combined head if you want to loosen grime and then squeegee away cleaner with the same tool. Ettore specifies nylon mesh on one side and a rubber blade on the other; Extend-A-Reach specifies foam and rubber. ITTAHO lists a microfiber cleaning head and a rubber wiper. These differences describe construction, not a proven ranking of cleaning results.
How to use a car window squeegee
- Rinse loose dirt first. Ettore recommends rinsing the glass to remove loose dirt before scrubbing.
- Wet and scrub the glass. Apply water or cleaning solution while using the scrubber side, following Ettore’s instructions.
- Make overlapping blade strokes. Ettore’s guidance is to “Pull the blade across the glass in smooth overlapping strokes.”
- Wipe the blade between passes. Ettore advises wiping the blade between strokes to clear away liquid and debris.
Microfiber cloths and automotive glass cleaner can be useful supporting supplies, but the available product descriptions do not establish that a particular cloth or cleaner is required for a squeegee to work. Follow the instructions for your chosen tool and cleaner.

What the available comparisons do—and do not—show
Car and Driver’s June 2026 article tested nine automotive glass cleaners, using ten sections on the rear window of a 1997 Camaro Z/28 and wiping each section for 15 seconds. That is a glass-cleaner test, not a comparison of squeegee models, so it cannot establish which squeegee leaves fewer streaks. The manufacturers’ descriptions are useful for identifying dimensions, materials, included parts, and use instructions; claims about outcomes should not be treated as independently verified performance results.
