The answer depends on the class and the score being used. In Edmunds’ comparison of five full-size pickups, the Ford F-150 ranked first and the Chevrolet Silverado fifth. Consumer Reports’ 2025 Buying Guide gave the lowest overall scores among the six selected configurations cited here to the Nissan Frontier SV, Toyota Tundra SR5, Chevrolet Colorado LT and Toyota Tacoma SR5. Those four are the lowest-scoring examples in that limited set—not a definitive ranking of the worst pickups sold in 2025.
What “best” and “worst” mean in the 2025 rankings
There is no single, all-class ranking in the available results that establishes the five best and four worst pickups of the entire 2025 model year. The sources measure different things: Edmunds compares five full-size trucks using its road-test rating system; Consumer Reports publishes overall scores for particular model-and-trim configurations; IIHS recognizes crash protection under stated criteria; and the North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year award reflects jurors’ selection.
The comparisons below keep those measures separate. A road-test score is not a reliability forecast, and an award or safety accolade is not an overall ranking.
Five full-size trucks ranked by Edmunds
In its September 16, 2025 comparison, Edmunds ranked these five full-size pickups from highest to lowest. These are the results of that specific comparison, not a ranking across every pickup class.
#1 Best Overall
- Revell Model Kit #14552, Skill Level 4, Contains 83-Parts, Recommended for ages 12 and up

| Rank | 2025 truck | Edmunds rating | What the comparison indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ford F-150 | 8.2/10 | Edmunds praised its broad capability, towing and payload, driver aids and easy-to-use technology; it called the design boring. |
| 2 | Ram 1500 | 8.1/10 | Second in this comparison. Its 0.1-point gap from the F-150 is small and should not be read as a universal quality difference. |
| 3 | Toyota Tundra | 7.9/10 | Third among the five trucks tested. |
| 4 | GMC Sierra | 7.6/10 | Fourth among the five trucks tested. |
| 5 | Chevrolet Silverado | 7.5/10 | Fifth in this comparison. Edmunds identified technology as a strength and comfort and ride as drawbacks. |
Edmunds describes its results as a comparison based on its rating system. See Edmunds’ 2025 full-size truck comparison for its test and evaluations.
Four lowest-scoring configurations in the cited Consumer Reports selection
Consumer Reports’ 2025 Buying Guide lists overall scores for selected pickup configurations. In the six configurations cited here, these four have the lowest scores. This is a comparison within that selected group only; it does not establish the four worst trucks across the market, and a score for one trim should not be generalized to every version of the model.

Another full-size editorial pick
The Car Guide’s 2025 full-size picks place the F-150 first and the Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra second. Its reliability and safety sub-scores are separate measures: it gives the F-150 5/10 for reliability and 8/10 for safety, and the Silverado/Sierra 6/10 for reliability and 8/10 for safety. Those are The Car Guide’s scores, not Edmunds ratings or Consumer Reports overall scores. See The Car Guide’s 2025 full-size pickup picks.

A safety award is not an overall ranking
IIHS lists the 2025–26 Toyota Tundra crew cab as a Top Safety Pick+. For its 2025 awards, IIHS criteria for Top Safety Pick+ include Good ratings in specified front and side crash tests, acceptable or good standard headlights, and acceptable or good pedestrian front crash prevention. The award applies to the vehicle and production conditions specified by IIHS; check its listing when comparing the exact model year, cab and build. Details are on the IIHS 2025 Top Safety Picks page.
A juried award is not a reliability score
The Ford Ranger was named 2025 North American Truck of the Year. Axios reported on January 10, 2025, that it beat the Toyota Tacoma and full-size Ram 1500 among the truck finalists. That award recognizes a juried selection, not a measured reliability result or a ranking of all pickups. See Axios’ report on the 2025 awards.

- Use and capability: Match the truck’s towing, payload and other capabilities to your needs. The cited results do not provide a common set of capability figures for every model, so verify the specifications for the exact configuration.
- Driving experience and technology: Use road-test evaluations such as Edmunds’ for comparative impressions of ride, comfort and controls, while keeping the scope of its five-truck test in mind.
- Reliability: Look for reliability evidence explicitly identified as such and applicable to the model or configuration in question. Do not treat an overall score or an award as a reliability rating.
- Safety: Confirm the applicable IIHS result for the exact model year, cab and production conditions; an award is not interchangeable with an overall score.
- Trim and price: Compare like-for-like equipment and current local pricing. Prices and inventory change, and the results cited here do not establish a current price recommendation.
