For US buyers shopping for a 2026 electric SUV with seven seats, the clearest documented options are the Kia EV9, Hyundai IONIQ 9 and Volvo EX90. The right choice depends on the exact trim: seating layouts, EPA range and charging arrangements differ. Compare the configuration you can actually buy, not just the model name.

Figures below are manufacturer-published US specifications available as of October 4, 2026; they are not results from a same-condition independent test. Confirm current trim availability, price and seat layout with the automaker or a local dealer.

Which 2026 electric SUVs have seven seats?

The 2026 Kia EV9, Hyundai IONIQ 9 and Volvo EX90 are the strongest starting points based on current manufacturer specifications. The Kia is offered in six- and seven-passenger configurations; Hyundai explicitly lists the IONIQ 9 S with a second-row bench and seven seats. Volvo identifies the EX90 as a 2026 fully electric SUV, but its US page does not establish the seat count and equipment for every configuration, so verify the exact vehicle before treating it as a seven-seater.

Rivian R1S and Tesla Model X also come up in searches for electric SUVs with a third row. The information available here does not establish their current 2026 seven-seat trims, prices and range in enough detail for a like-for-like comparison. Cadillac Vistiq and Escalade IQ have also been named in current comparison coverage, but their seven-seat configurations and specifications likewise need confirmation from current manufacturer listings.

What stands out about each SUV

Kia EV9: clear seven-seat availability and a built-in NACS port

Kia says the 2026 EV9 seats up to seven adults and offers both six- and seven-passenger versions. If you need a bench seat to carry a seventh person, check the seating option on the precise trim before ordering; the model name alone does not tell you which layout is included. Kia’s detailed material identifies an available 99.8-kWh battery and available dual-motor all-wheel drive.

The US product page displays a $54,900 starting MSRP and a 305-mile EPA-estimated range. Kia’s listed price excludes destination and handling, taxes, title, license, options and dealer charges, so it is not the full configured or out-the-door cost. Kia says the EV9 has a built-in NACS charge port and can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 24 minutes on a 350-kW DC fast charger. Treat that as a best-case manufacturer claim: equipment, battery temperature and other conditions affect charging sessions.

Hyundai IONIQ 9: trim-specific range figures and a documented seven-seat S

Hyundai explicitly lists the 2026 IONIQ 9 S with seven-passenger seating and a second-row bench. Its US lineup page gives different EPA-estimated ranges by trim: 335 miles for S, 320 miles for SE and SEL, and 311 miles for Limited, Calligraphy and Calligraphy Design. Those figures make trim selection especially relevant for buyers weighing range against equipment, but the estimates do not guarantee how far the SUV will travel on a particular trip.

Volvo EX90: verify seat count while comparing its range and charging claims

Volvo’s US page lists the 2026 EX90 at a $78,090 starting MSRP. It shows up to 305 miles of EPA-estimated range for specified AWD configurations on 21-inch wheels, and up to 293 miles for the Single Motor variant. Volvo says charging from 10% to 80% can take as little as 22 minutes at a 350-kW DC fast charger when the battery is preconditioned and conditions are optimal. Volvo describes NACS fast-charging access through a standard adapter. Because the US page information here does not settle the seat count for every trim, confirm the actual vehicle’s layout before counting the EX90 as a seven-seat option for your family.

How to choose a configuration that works for your family

  1. Confirm the seat layout. Ask whether the specific trim has a second-row bench or captain’s chairs and whether it seats six or seven. The EV9 is offered in both layouts; Hyundai explicitly identifies the IONIQ 9 S bench as a seven-seat configuration. For the EX90, verify seat count on the exact US vehicle.
  2. Compare range by trim and wheels. Use the EPA estimate for the configuration you intend to buy. Hyundai’s listed IONIQ 9 figures span 311–335 miles by trim; Volvo’s maximum depends on AWD and 21-inch wheels. Kia’s cited product page displays 305 miles but does not provide the same trim-by-trim detail.
  3. Check connector and charging access. Kia specifies a built-in NACS port; Volvo describes NACS access via a standard adapter. Ask what hardware is included with the vehicle and check compatibility with the charging networks you expect to use. The advertised 10–80% times for Kia and Volvo are conditional best-case figures, not a promise for every charging stop.
  4. Compare the configured price, not only the starting MSRP. Kia’s displayed price excludes destination and handling, taxes, title, license, options and dealer charges. Volvo’s page lists a starting MSRP; obtain a current quote that includes the trim and equipment you want, along with local fees. The cited Hyundai pages do not state a price.
  5. Try the third row and cargo area in person. Published specifications here do not establish comparable adult comfort, child-seat fit or luggage capacity with all seats in use. Bring the child seats and luggage you actually use, and check access to the third row in the exact layout.

Home charging and ownership setup

A Level 2 home charger can make routine charging more convenient, but the right equipment depends on the vehicle’s connector arrangement, your home’s electrical capacity and installation requirements. Kia lists Level 2 home-charging equipment and a portable charger; that does not mean one setup will suit every home or every vehicle. Confirm compatibility, circuit capacity and installation needs with the charger maker and a qualified electrician.
