There is no evidence-backed universal winner among 33×12.50R20 all-terrain tires. The BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3, Falken Wildpeak A/T4W, and Toyo Open Country A/T III are documented options in this size, but they differ in listed ratings and construction. Choose by your vehicle’s load requirements, wheel width and clearance, then the mix of pavement, towing, snow, and off-road driving you expect.
Which 33×12.50R20 all-terrain tires are worth comparing?
These are three documented all-terrain candidates in or near the exact flotation-size designation. Check the precise sidewall marking and specification row before ordering: a shared nominal size does not mean equal load capacity, speed rating, dimensions, or construction.
| Tire | Exact-size information available | What the manufacturer emphasizes |
|---|---|---|
| BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 | 33×12.50R20/E; load index 114; speed symbol S. BFGoodrich’s size listing also includes a Mud-Terrain T/A KM3, which is a different tire category. | Falken Wildpeak A/T4W | Tire Rack lists the A/T4W in 33X12.5R20LT and identifies the selected size as Load Range F. Confirm the exact product variant when buying. Tire Rack listing | Falken describes heavy-duty sizes for towing at higher loads and pressures, and 3-ply DURASPEC construction as a thicker, stiffer sidewall for harsher off-road conditions. These are maker claims, not proof of superiority over the other tires. Falken product page |
| Toyo Open Country A/T III | 33X12.50R20LT; 119Q; Load Range F; 63 lb; 32.5 in overall diameter; 12.5 in overall width; 3,000 lb maximum single load; 80 psi maximum pressure; approved rim width 8.5–11.0 in. Toyo’s databook publication date is not stated in the retrieved listing. Toyo databook | The cited exact-size row supplies concrete dimensions and ratings. How to choose for your truck or SUV
Start with load capacity and ratings
Read the vehicle’s tire placard and owner’s manual, then compare the exact tire’s load index or load range and speed symbol. The KO3 listing shows 114S, while the Toyo A/T III row shows 119Q; those are not interchangeable labels, and nominal size alone cannot establish that either tire is suitable for your vehicle or axle loads. Ask a qualified tire professional to confirm capacity for your application.

Confirm wheel width, clearance, and actual dimensions
Check the wheel’s width against the tire maker’s approved rim range for the exact model. Toyo lists 8.5–11.0 inches for the cited A/T III size; that range should not be assumed for the KO3 or A/T4W. Also check clearance through steering and suspension travel, including the effects of wheel offset, lift, or fender changes. No vehicle is specified here, so these listings cannot establish fitment for a particular truck or SUV.
Flotation size does not guarantee identical measured diameter, section width, or weight across tire models. Toyo’s cited A/T III row lists 32.5 inches overall diameter, 12.5 inches overall width, and 63 pounds. Get the exact specification sheet for each candidate before assessing speedometer or gearing effects, unsprung mass, or clearance.

- Constructed with three full carcass plies, aggressive sidewall tread, and a robust bead protector for maximum durability and impact resistance
- Optimized tread design with interlocking center tread blocks delivers superior grip in mud, snow, and wet conditions
- Large groove volumes efficiently channel water away, enhancing wet traction and reducing the risk of hydroplaning
- High sipe density provides excellent grip on snow and ice for confident handling in extreme winter conditions
- Built to accommodate studs for additional traction and reliability in severe icy environments
Match construction to the work the tire will do
Consider how much of your driving is paved commuting, towing, gravel, rocks, or mud. Falken highlights heavy-duty construction and sidewall design in its A/T4W materials; BFGoodrich describes tread and sidewall features for the KO3. Those descriptions help explain each maker’s design priorities, but the available information does not establish an overall performance ranking or a like-for-like result in this size.
Use snow markings as one part of the decision
BFGoodrich says the KO3’s compound and full-depth 3D sipes allow it to carry the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol. That marking is relevant when comparing snow capability, but it does not make an all-terrain tire equivalent to a dedicated winter tire in every adverse condition. Tire Rack says non-winter tires with the symbol may provide more longitudinal snow traction than M+S tires without it, while still not matching true winter tires in all adverse weather. Other tires in this size
Not every tire listed in 33×12.50R20 belongs in an all-terrain comparison. BFGoodrich also lists the Mud-Terrain T/A KM3, a mud-terrain model. Toyo positions the Open Country R/T Trail between a traditional all-terrain tire and a dedicated mud tire, making it a rugged-terrain alternative rather than the same category as the A/T III.
