ORLEN and Northland Power had not confirmed that turbine installation was complete at Baltic Power as of October 7, 2026. Northland’s second-quarter update said 61 of the planned 76 turbines were installed, with 15 generating power. The project had reached first power in July, but that milestone means the first turbine began delivering electricity—not that the full installation campaign was finished.
What is confirmed about Baltic Power?
Baltic Power is an offshore wind farm in the Polish sector of the Baltic Sea, jointly developed by ORLEN and Northland Power. The companies describe it as Poland’s first offshore wind farm. Its planned array consists of 76 Vestas turbines rated at 15 MW apiece, for approximately 1.2 GW of total capacity. ORLEN’s June 22 update and Baltic Power’s July 10 announcement describe construction and commissioning progress.
The latest precise installation count located was in Northland Power’s second-quarter 2026 update: 61 of 76 turbines installed and 15 generating power. That is substantial progress, but it is not completion of all 76 turbine installations.
Why first power does not mean installation is complete
Baltic Power reached first power in July 2026, when electricity from turbines that had passed required tests was received at the onshore substation near Choczewo. First power is the beginning of generation from the first turbine. Further turbines are brought online in stages as testing and commissioning proceed; it does not establish that every turbine has been installed or that the whole wind farm has reached commercial operation.

The project company said the offshore installation campaign was scheduled to finish later in 2026. Northland’s second-quarter update said commercial operations were on track for the second half of 2026. Both statements were forecasts, not confirmation that those milestones had occurred.
How the reported turbine counts changed
| Report date | Installed turbines reported | What the update established |
|---|---|---|
| February 18, 2026 | 30 of 76 | ORLEN said all 78 monopile foundations were installed; the turbine installation count was 30. Source: ORLEN |
| June 22, 2026 | 50 of 76 | ORLEN reported 50 installed and said infrastructure testing and preparations for grid supply were underway. Source: ORLEN |
| July 10, 2026 | More than 50 of 76 | Baltic Power confirmed first power and said installation was scheduled to conclude later in the year. Source: Baltic Power |
| Second quarter 2026 update | 61 of 76 | Northland reported 15 turbines generating power. Source: Northland Power |
The counts are snapshots from different reporting dates and publishers, not contradictory claims of completion. The 61-turbine figure is the newest precise count in the cited updates; none of these reports confirms all 76 installed.
Where the project is and what it is designed to produce
The wind farm is approximately 23 km off the Polish coast near Choczewo and Łeba. ORLEN estimated annual generation of about 4 TWh, equivalent to roughly 3% of Poland’s then-current electricity demand. Baltic Power described the planned output as enough for the annual electricity needs of more than 1.5 million households. These are company estimates for the project, not measured annual output from a fully operating wind farm.
How electricity reaches the grid
Power travels from the turbines through internal cables to offshore substations, where voltage is transformed. Export cables then carry it to the onshore substation near Choczewo and onward to the national grid. Baltic Power reported more than 350 km of cable in total. Initial grid delivery demonstrates that part of this system is operating; it does not by itself show that all turbines and project systems are fully commissioned.

A definitive completion report should state that all 76 turbines have been installed. That is distinct from commissioning the turbines, obtaining remaining permits and certification, receiving an electricity generation licence, and beginning commercial operation. Baltic Power’s July announcement identified inspections, permits, certification, and the licence as further steps after first power. The cited official updates do not establish that the 76-turbine installation milestone was later completed.
