The South African Badger Extreme camper trailer expands by folding a section of its roof and right sidewall outward and down. The sidewall becomes part of the floor, the roof helps form the enlarged space, and canvas encloses the sleeping area. Badger lists a 1.9 m × 1.9 m sleeping area and a closed-to-open height change from 2,100 mm to 2,620 mm.
How the Badger Extreme roof becomes a room
Badger describes the Extreme’s arrangement as a fold-out bed with pop-up canvas. New Atlas reported in March 2022 that a large section of the fiberglass roof and right sidewall folds down together: the sidewall becomes a floor while the roof extends the sheltered space. Telescopic legs integrated into the roof rack support the deployed structure, and canvas walls enclose the sleeping area. The mechanical description comes from New Atlas’s 2022 report; the manufacturer independently confirms the fold-out bed and canvas on its Extreme product page.
Badger calls the bed-and-canvas arrangement “PATENTED” on that page. This is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent verification of patent status.
Two bed positions and the sleeping area
The bed has a Day Bed position that is not fully extended, leaving more room to move inside the trailer, and a fully extended Sleep Bed position. Badger lists the sleeping area as 1.9 m × 1.9 m on its live model page, accessed in October 2026.

Badger’s August 2025 specifications sheet lists these figures for the Extreme:

These are manufacturer-published values from August 2025, not independent measurements. Check the actual trailer’s specifications and your tow vehicle’s limits before buying; tare and GVM describe different weights, and the figures alone do not establish suitability for a particular vehicle.

Equipment: water, cooking, cooling and power
The Extreme is listed with camping equipment including a 110-litre water tank, a 12 V pump rated at 7 l/min, a 15-litre Hansen gas/electric water heater, a two-plate gas cooker, and a fridge/freezer. Badger’s live product page names the cooker as a Cadac 2-Cook Deluxe and the fridge/freezer as a Snowmaster 56-litre unit.
There is a battery-specification difference between Badger’s sources: the live Extreme page lists a 105 Ah deep-cycle battery, while the August 2025 sheet lists a 100 Ah lithium power supply. These descriptions should not be treated as interchangeable; confirm the battery fitted to the specific trailer and the current specification with Badger.

Badger lineup and dated prices
The August 2025 Badger sheet lists all three models as two-berth trailers. It also shows the Extreme as the heaviest and largest of the three, with independent suspension and a hot-dipped galvanised chassis listed for the Extreme.

The sheet also lists independent suspension and a hot-dipped galvanised chassis only for the Extreme. Its figures are dated August 2025, so they do not establish October 2026 pricing, stock, or delivery times. Ask Badger for a current quote and confirm which equipment is included in the quoted build. What to check before choosing one
- Compare the trailer’s tare and GVM with your vehicle’s rated towing capacity and the applicable limits for your intended use.
- Confirm the closed height for storage and the open height for the campsite where you plan to deploy the roof section.
- Ask which battery type and capacity are fitted, and verify the included water, heater, cooker, fridge/freezer and shower equipment against the specific quotation.
