Arla Foods has taken delivery of four DAF XD Electric trucks for refrigerated dairy distribution in Denmark. The 6×2 electric rigids will be based at the dairy’s Hobro plant and use a new depot charging installation. DAF states a maximum range of up to 550 kilometres per full charge, but the announcement does not report the trucks’ actual range or emissions savings on Arla routes.
What Arla has added to its fleet
Arla took delivery of the four trucks on October 1, 2026. They are 6×2 DAF XD Electric rigid trucks intended for chilled dairy distribution. The vehicles are rated at 350 kW (480 hp) and have 525 kWh battery packs, according to DAF’s October 1, 2026 announcement.
The four trucks follow Arla’s first three XD Electric trucks, which went into operation the previous year. Arla Fleet Manager Michael Engsig Hansen said experience with that earlier group informed the follow-up order. He cited visibility, driver comfort, the two-step entry, driveline, energy consumption and reliability as factors in the decision. These are Arla’s reported assessments, not an independently tested comparison.

Battery, power and stated range
DAF lists a 525 kWh battery and a maximum range of up to 550 kilometres on a full charge. That is the manufacturer’s stated maximum; neither DAF’s announcement nor electrive’s October 6, 2026 report gives measured range for Arla’s routes.
Range in service depends on the work the truck performs and its operating conditions. The published maximum alone does not establish how far these trucks travel between charges while carrying refrigerated dairy loads.
How the Hobro depot will charge the trucks
The trucks will be based at Arla’s dairy plant in Hobro, Denmark. DAF says PACCAR Power Solutions is installing a 480 kW power unit and six high-speed charging points, each capable of up to 400 kW. The figures describe the planned installation and the points’ stated maximum capability; the announcement does not provide charging times for the trucks or explain how the site’s total power is allocated across the points.
DAF also reports that PACCAR Power Solutions analysed Arla’s operations and found overnight depot charging sufficient for virtually all of its transport tasks. That is an attributed supplier analysis, not a published independent route study. Frank van den Dungen, Managing Director of PACCAR Parts Europe, described its approach this way:

The electric trucks are part of a mixed order
Alongside the four electric trucks, Arla is putting seven new DAF XD 6×2 rigids with MX-11 diesel engines rated at 330 kW (450 hp) into operation. All the vehicles in the announcement are supplied with a DAF MultiSupport repair and maintenance contract. The order therefore adds electric trucks while also bringing diesel rigids into the fleet; it is not an all-electric fleet conversion.

The announcement provides vehicle specifications, intended use and charging-infrastructure details, but it does not quantify the operational results. In particular, it gives no figures for energy use on Arla routes, actual route emissions reductions, total cost of ownership or the proportion of Arla’s transport covered by these trucks. The stated maximum range and Arla’s broader emissions objective cannot be used to calculate those outcomes.

For fleet comparisons, the useful distinctions are the vehicle configuration and stated battery and range, the duty cycle, the available charging capacity and dwell time, and whether performance figures are manufacturer claims or measured operating results. In this announcement, the range is manufacturer-stated and the depot-charging conclusion comes from a supplier analysis; route-level cost and emissions results are not reported.
