The first sample showed elevated break-in metals described as expected; later readings rose and then fell. The final report was summarized as showing no developing concern from a wear standpoint.

This is encouraging evidence about that individual motorcycle during that test, not a controlled fleet study or a guarantee of long-term durability. The tester also described a clutch burn-out off pavement and a front-end fold in deep sand as riding experiences; the article did not present those incidents as mechanical reliability findings.

Recalls and updates are model- and VIN-specific
Safety recalls and warranty software campaigns matter when evaluating a particular used or new bike, but they are not interchangeable with a brand-wide reliability verdict. Check the VIN and ask for paperwork showing affected work was completed.
U.S. 2024 450SS safety recall
CFMOTO’s February 29, 2024 notice said certain 450SS motorcycles could have a telematics box dislodge and fall into a position that could result in loss of steering control. The remedy was a telematics box holder kit installed by an authorized dealer at no cost. Confirm whether the specific VIN was affected and whether the remedy was performed. U.S. 2025 Ibex 450 dashboard update
CFMOTO-USA bulletin WAR-2025-01, issued January 23, 2025, identified 320 affected model-year 2025 Ibex 450 VINs for a dashboard software update. A bug could display a random number instead of true mileage. This is an odometer-display software issue, not evidence of engine unreliability. Ask a dealer to check the VIN and document completion. How to judge a CFMOTO before you buy
- Match evidence to the exact bike. Check the model, model year, market, and VIN. A report about an Ibex 450, a 450SS campaign, or an ATV does not automatically apply to another CFMOTO motorcycle.
- Check campaign status and service records. Use the appropriate recall authority and ask a dealer whether the VIN has open safety recalls or required updates. Get evidence that completed work is recorded.
- Call the service department that would actually handle repairs. Confirm it services the specific model, ask how it handles warranty work, and ask about parts ordering. Owners have reported delays, but those accounts do not establish that every dealer or repair will be delayed.
