1. Fairing and overall layout
Why choose the RS 660
The RS 660 wears full sportbike bodywork. If you want the visual identity and layout of a faired sportbike, it is the direct fit in this pair.
Why choose the Tuono 660
The Tuono uses a naked-bike layout rather than the RS’s full fairing. That makes it the choice for riders who prefer the exposed, upright sport-naked presentation. The available specifications do not quantify how much wind protection either bike provides.
2. Riding position and intended use
Why choose the RS 660
Choose the RS if you want the sportbike riding position and presentation. The sources establish the difference in configuration, but do not provide an independent comfort test or show that one posture suits every rider.

Why choose the Tuono 660
Piaggio Group’s 2021 launch description identifies the Tuono’s higher riding position, different ergonomics, and street and daily-use orientation as defining distinctions (Piaggio Group). That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not a measured finding about long-distance comfort. If riding posture is decisive, sit on both bikes if possible.
3. Year and trim change the comparison
Do not compare an RS 660 standard model with a Tuono 660 Factory as though they were equivalent trims. Aprilia’s 2025 brochure for the 2026 range lists the RS 660 and RS 660 Factory separately, while the current Tuono specification cited here is for the Tuono 660 Factory. Confirm the year, trim, and regional configuration of the actual bike you are considering.

Figures are manufacturer-published specifications: the RS entries come from Aprilia’s 2025 brochure for the 2026 range, and the Tuono Factory figures from Aprilia’s technical specification (RS 660 range brochure; Tuono 660 Factory technical specification). The brochure defines wet weight under EU type-approval conditions, with fluids, standard equipment, and at least 90% usable tank volume. Its listed fuel capacities are 13 litres for the standard RS 660 and 15 litres for both the RS 660 Factory and Tuono 660 Factory.
4. Suspension equipment
Why choose the RS 660
The standard RS 660’s listed Sachs fork and shock distinguish it from the RS 660 Factory’s Öhlins setup. If you are considering the standard bike, assess that trim on its own merits rather than assuming it has the Factory’s suspension.

Why choose the RS 660 Factory or Tuono 660 Factory
Both Factory entries list fully adjustable Öhlins suspension; the RS 660 Factory specifies a 43 mm fork and fully adjustable monoshock. The Tuono 660 Factory specification lists fully adjustable Öhlins suspension without detailing those same component dimensions. Suspension equipment is a reason to compare Factory trims, not evidence that one will feel better to every rider.
5. Electronics and equipment by trim
RS 660
Aprilia’s 2026-range brochure lists the standard RS 660 with a 6-axis inertial platform, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, five riding modes, cruise control, and quick shift. The RS 660 Factory has a distinct equipment listing, including a-PRC with a 6-axis platform and six riding modes. Check the exact trim’s specification rather than assuming the lists are interchangeable.

Tuono 660 Factory
Aprilia lists a-PRC with a 6-axis inertial platform, cornering ABS with three maps and rear-wheel-lift mitigation, traction and wheelie control, launch control, five riding modes, cruise control, and quick shift for the Tuono 660 Factory (Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory specifications). These are manufacturer-listed features, not a comparative test of how the systems perform.

- Lean toward the RS 660 if you specifically want a fully faired sportbike and are choosing between the standard model’s Sachs equipment or the RS 660 Factory’s Öhlins setup.
- Lean toward the Tuono 660 if you prefer a naked sport layout and the higher riding position and street-use emphasis Aprilia describes.
- Compare exact trims if seat height, wet weight, suspension, or electronics matter; the published numbers and equipment vary across the standard and Factory versions.
The cited manufacturer specifications establish shared engine figures for the Factory models—659 cc, 105 HP, and 70 Nm—but do not establish which bike is quicker on a track, more comfortable on a long ride, more reliable, cheaper to maintain, or preferred by owners. They also cannot predict how either will fit a particular rider.
